In New Zealand, a man was accused of cooking Fido for Sunday dinner. They eventually let him off the hook, once it was discovered that the pet was slaughtered humanely.

What do you think? Should this be acceptable, or is it morally wrong? With the recession slowing food bank contributions and pet adoptions, and speeding pet abandonments; have we found a way to keep the poor fed?
