WHERE CLIMATE CHANGE WILL HIT THE HARDEST

The politics of climate change are difficult in the Senate, it's often said, because it's a regional issue: coal state senators are afraid their economies will be driven under if the price of dirty energy rises too quickly.

Climate change is, in fact, a regional issue, but not in the short-term way that the coal senators think, according to new analysis from The Nature Conservancy. The environmental group finds that rural Midwestern states will face the greatest consequences of climate change. The three that will face the steepest rise in temperature -- Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa -- are farm states whose soil will be significantly less productive as temperatures rise more than 10 degrees Fahrenheit there by 2100.

The rise by by 2050 -- only 41 years from now -- is also projected to be substantial. (Click here for an interactive map of the analysis.)

The two Republican senators from Kansas, which will be most ravaged by climate change, are unlikely to support legislation addressing it.

    • In a recent study on the national security implications of global warming the U.S. military pointed out that that global warming will have negative impacts on a number of counries including the USA and postive impacts on others such as Canada and Russia where growing seasons will increase; vast areas of tundra will open up for drilling. The down side is that future wars are going to be resource based...Egypt has said that any disruption of the Nile's flow will be "an act of war" ..... China invaded Tibet to get control of the Himilayas, the source of water for 40% of the world's population....Get ready for an interesting future.

    • Hardest hit by the global warming/climate change? Consumers pockets!
We can change without spending more money!
Quit throwing money at people using this for monetary gain.
We can clean up the planet by our own actions, each one of us. Change something you do every week or everyday.
      1) week 1/month1: avoid buying foods in non degradable pckages.
      2) wk/mo: continue the first change and buy liqiuds in only recyclable containers.
      3) wk/mo cont. above and change all your cleaning products to non-phophate and natural products. Vinegar, baking soda, lemon, peroxide, etc.
      4) so on and so on.

Lol yeah, but no... Most of the people here dying are those dumb ass gang members, and drug dealers and a say as long as they want to kill each other, so be it. Most of the time that so called "innocent" are just being covered by friends and family so they don't seem like bad people. Incidents dealing with some obvious drop out gang member, thug, drug addict or just plain criminal, and their mom, dad or friend always cover for them.

I can tell you, the gang problem here is bad, the drug problem is bad. But I can also tell you, that if you don't fuck with those guys(rival gangs, fucking with their money) they wont mess with you, and I live in the one of the worst parts of Maryland- Baltimore City, the worst part and not much happens to the normal folk around here. I knew 3 guys around here who have been killed in the pass 3 years and they were all either gang members, or drug dealers which a good majority of that 238 are, and the rest were just girlfriends, children, and other types of innocent bystanders who got caught in the web, because of some idiot who wants to go off and welll... Be idiots .

    • It is not just getting warmer, which is why scientists refer to it as "global disruption". The term "global warming" has just become a staple reference to the public.

    • Come to Lewis Run PA. We are in the beginning of the return of the Ice Age. Here it is August and our temps this week were in the 60/s. We have to turn on the heat in the AM to warm up the house. I have lived here since Dec 05 and we had the fan on less than 10 times. the sugar maples started turning over three weeks ago, the tomato plants froze in July and the copperheads staked out their claim to the garage already. The Allegheny forest will soon turn into a tundra.

    • Actually its going to heat up, and then cool down, but that cooling will bring us into a very terrible Ice Age to kill off the humans.....

Who ever said that Global Warming wasn't just about getting killed over some heat?

Man Made Global Warming is a myth perpetrated by the government and certain individuals to line their pockets. It is not science.

And the even you speak of has already happened in Earth's history. It's called the natural cooling and warming cycle of the Earth. It will happen with or without humans.

Humans will not be wiped out during the next ice age. We have the ability to adapt to almost any situation and we will find a way to adapt to an ice age.

    • It's funny how everyone is afraid of the earth warming up when history clearly shows that life is better when it's warmer. Hey, look at that... climate change isn't going to affect Canada or Mexico at all...
