your absolutely right sam, parents rights. in this case the mother was violating the rights of the father, which went against what they had agreed upon.
further more, it was clear from the article that even if the girl was being educated properly she's was also basically involved in a cult like indoctrination program where she cried when people didn't respond to her religious attempts and felt like her father didn't love her because he wouldn't join her version of faith.
the best way (for people like you) to decide if the court made the right decisions is to swap the "chrisitan" image for something like muslim. if this had been about a young muslim girl forced to stay home with her father who was indoctrinating her into wahabi islam would you be cool with that?
obviously no. the state did nothing more than side with the father after a psychological evaluation showed the girl NEEDED more social interaction.
