At the passing of yet another “Famous” person due to addiction, I reflect upon my own life. Blessings of hope are sent to the Goldstein’s, Jackson’s, Kennedy’s and the countless others whose lives have been affected by addiction.
    A collection of thoughts~
Adam Michael Goldstein (March 30, 1973 – August 28, 2009) was an American club disc jockey better known as DJ AM. Goldstein was a former member of the rock band Crazy Town, and scratched on albums for Papa Roach, Madonna, and Will Smith, among others. He collaborated with Travis Barker of Blink-182 at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, and has appeared in several television series. Goldstein's former fiancée was Nicole Richie.
On September 19, 2008, Goldstein was seriously injured when a Learjet he was traveling in crashed on takeoff. His ex-girlfriend, singer Mandy Moore, with whom he was still close, flew to be by his side at the Georgia hospital where he was staying. He had battled a crack cocaine addiction and later had gastric bypass surgery. Goldstein was found dead at his New York City apartment at around 5:20 p.m. on Friday, August 28, 2009. ~ Wikipedia
~ Every form of addiction is bad, no matter whether the narcotic be alcohol or morphine or idealism. ~ Carl Gustav Jung
“The scientific community, psychologists, neuroscientists, et. al. know a lot about addiction, and, while I find much of what they tell us fascinating, none of it is fun. Science makes the glamour of addiction wither on the vine: At first, researchers tell us, opiates like heroin flood the brain with pleasure-giving dopamine. Many potential addicts start out with fewer than normal dopamine receptors, which make the early experience of dopamine highs feel less like a kick than a revelation. But over time drug-associated dopamine surges distort one's ability to set priorities or unlearn a drug habit. In later stages of a habit, the addicted brain tries to stabilize itself by shedding dopamine receptors, and with them goes the ability to feel joy. That kind of impairment is slow to heal and is sometimes permanent, which is one reason addicts so often relapse.
Science is fascinating; it has an endless narrative of discovery and rediscovery; it connects people all over the world; it's strong medicine. But as an antidote to the lure of intoxication scientific knowledge remains a placeholder - not a cure” ~Lynn Philips, Full Article - http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/dream/200908/addict-addiction
“In the course of history many more people have died for their drink and their dope than have died for their religion or their country.” ~ Aldous Huxley
“People spend a lifetime searching for happiness; looking for peace. They chase idle dreams, addictions, religions, even other people, hoping to fill the emptiness that plagues them. The irony is the only place they ever needed to search was within.” ~Ramona L. Anderson

No Matter how famous, rich, poor, wise or ignorant addiction can still take control of life and spin it helplessly out of control.

This summer has produced more then it's fair share of deaths. It's crazy. Someone should compile a list of celebrity who died from June-August. Non-celeb deaths too, I have so many friends that lost loved ones this summer.
