Guy Ritchie (Sherlock Holmes, Snatch) has signed on to direct a live-action adaptation of the DC Comics series Lobo for Warner Bros. Joel Silver, Akiva Goldsman and Andrew Rona will produce.

The character first appeared in June 1983, created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, Lobo was an alien who works as an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter. He later had a huge resurgence as an anti-hero biker in the 1990’s. Which incarnation will be featured in the big screen adaptation? Variety describes a film version which is closer to the incarnation popularized in the 1990’s: “a seven-foot tall, blue-skinned, indestructible and heavily muscled anti-hero who drives a pimped out motorcycle, lands on Earth in search of four fugitives who are bent on wreaking havoc,” and “teams with a small town teenaged girl to stop the creatures.”

Well, Sherlock Holmes is going to be about the worst movie ever, so maybe this one has a chance.

This has potential. Guy Ritchie isn't the best director but he's not the worst either. Can't call this one until production really starts though.

If they put in his back story i'm there, so funny, I still have the first three issues. I'd think a horror director would be more suitable but who knows.

I LOVE LOBO! They better not fuck this up like how the Punisher was fucked up. Knife fight with Santa Claus ftw!

The only reason I knew he existed was because of the Marvel Vs DC comics....and he fought Wolverine and lost.

Who is gonna play Lobo? That's the question...I would like to see someone like Sean Penn, but it will likely be an English actor...somehow, I think this could be along the bizarreness of The Fifth Element...

It could be a total, straight to cable crash and burn, or a total hit...we'll see.

movie IS going to be sick!
i think it would be cooler though if they diddent go with the whole visting earth thing, and just have a compleate outer space boutny hunter movie.

its fun to looks through the marvel or DC files and see what characters would make the best movies.

Brad Garrett's voice??? well this sounds weak. lobo is a dumb antagonist ( bad biker guy )

Will this be the first antagonist comic movie?
