re-size
Saturday 5 September 2009: Far Right group the English Defence League (EDL) returned to Birmingham a month after violent clashes with anti-fascists and locals in August.

The EDL, who claim they are not a racist organisation or linked to the BNP or other fascist groups, attempted to march through Birmingham city centre, but clashes with anti-fascists quickly halted this.

A Birmingham BNP councilor was hit with eggs from the anti-fascist crowd.

Riot police were brought in to contain a large section of the EDL in a pub. But the rear fire exited was not covered, EDL members broke out and hurled bottles at a growing crowd of counter protestors.

The initial clashes caused police to commandeer two buses and remove the EDL and Casuals United from the city centre. 90 arrests were made and the EDL found themselves bused to the neighbouring town of Coventry.

Warning: This film has caught EDL protestors making racist chants and Sieg Heiling which some may find offensive.

Good video, I hate being white British, how must other countries see us? Surely the guy at the end on the bus shouting "I hate Paki's more than you" should have been arrested. Any society that lets people like the EDl and the BNP continue to operate should be ashamed of itself.

  •

that was quite intense - well done on getting such good footage.

My good friend, you should be happy that you are white british. I as a british pakistani know these people do not represent the majority of british people. Most british people are very tolerant and kind people. These people are just trouble makers using any excuse to provoke people.

I am a white british and support the EDL. i dont support the guy at the end sayin i hate pakis as this is not what the EDL stand for. They dont want sharia law brough into england at all. Want to stop muslims preaching sharia law to people. And want muslim extremists out. EDlL's foundation is actualy built around a mixed race group.

I think most people that support and are in the EDL and BNP are ignorant to the fact they are probably white trash that have financial and intelluctual misgivings and two brain cells. Put that together and it's an excuse to want other threats out. Threats being people that can get a career, family and money while you cannot. These people are bored most of them sound like they haven't spent a day in school

I went to the anti-EDL demo in Manchester, and going to the one in swansea soon. I was disgusted by the way the police acted as well as the EDL itself. I was illegally searched by FIT as well as witnessing the abuse of my friend by another officer. When we asked for ID numbers they refused.
