For the umpteenth time, researchers are warning that Cellular Phones may be leading us down the path to brain cancer...at least the politicians and Kanye West are safe!

    • We can only hope that cell phone "abusers" will eventually toast themselves into a [blissfully quiet] catatonic state. (Silver linings and all that.)

    • If radio waves cause cancer, than so do the standard wireless phones in houses, laptops with wifi, bluetooth mice, cell towers etc all cause cancer too.

Yeah. Except that cell phones are far more powerful. A wireless home phone is only designed to connect to a receiver 20 feet away, whereas a cell phone is designed to connect to a tower 5 miles away.

It's like standing in the sun vs. standing underneath a magnifying glass.

Cell phones don't use radio waves they use microwaves with a much higher frequency (850 MHz - 1.9 GHz) radio wave frequencies end where microwaves begin at 300MHz they extend to 300 GHz. Microwaves can carry a lot more energy than radio waves so you are comparing apples to oranges except in the case of cell towers.

The Major's right a cell phone can produce up to 5 watts of power while a cordless phone is hard pressed to put out 1/10 of a watt. The same goes for most of the devices you mentioned. As for cell towers who said they were safe? If cell phones cause a problem then it stands to reason people living close enough to the towers will suffer the same fate.

"Cell phones don't use radio waves they use microwaves with a much higher frequency (850 MHz - 1.9 GHz)"

Well, if you're going to get picky < 1 GHz is radio, > 1 GHz is microwave.

So your average GSM phone has a 50% probability of using either "radio wave" or "microwaves" depending on which mode it is in (850 Mhz or 1.9 Ghz).

850 MHz is right in the middle of the UHF spectrum afterall.

It's tough, labelling those 1.9 GHz spectrums "microwave" tends to muddle the issue quite a bit, as to almost everybody that is associated with the parlor trick of vibrating water atoms to heat food, rather than as a different classification of EM radiation.

    • I don't see why people still don't get it. Radiation is bad, Cellular Radiation IS STILL RADIATION which means, ITS STILL BAD FOR YOU.

put three together and watch some popcorn. thats what happens to your brain
