Every 18 seconds, an American is busted for drug possession, according to Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) crime statistics released Monday - but is the sum of the costs worth it?-

The war on drugs is a failure. It is a war on the American people, and it is unjust. People who have serious hardcore drug problems need help not punishment. People who choose safer soft drugs such as cannabis should just be left alone. It is not up to the government to regulate peopler's personal choices, especially in the privacy of their own homes, as long as they aren't causing harm to people.

Hypocrites all. Put you in jail for drugs, then put you on drugs to keep you from jail because you developed "social problems" from being in the system and NEED medication... thats what they call their drugs, their not drugs, they're MEDICATIONS, they're good for you... or so they say. Many drugs they use in the medical field, especially for "social" problems have highly addictive effects and chemicals, yet obviously they're better than the evil, horrible plague on our world that is marijuana, right?

war on drugs started about the same time the vietnam war was going on...I would say it is a clear victory for drugs, as many governments have manipulated the goals of this war for politics instead of the issue.
look how many pot farms are now being found on public lands...and the gov-mint continues to cut funds for these type of efforts...
why?

Every 18 seconds...that's sickening. It's time to open up and have a true national debate on legalization of at least some drugs. Every year that passes means more tax payer money wasted on an unwinnable war and more prisons filled with non-violent offenders. Stupid.

I believe that it should be legalized.
And the gov. would not have had a hard time in the recession.
Our infer structure would not be in such dies repair. Fetch care would be all most free for all Criticizes if 60% of the revenue. Went there.
And have seen its many spiritual benefits. (exp. Alcoholism and demon drug addictions like crack, heroin, crank, meth ext.) are to me the demons way off taking your (gift of free will) to make good choices in life. But god has supplied a weapon for all that the demon can throw at you. "I have seen pot free many people from alcohol for more than 20 yrs.(alcohol is the #1 demon drug in the world and destroys more lives and families than anything on earth including wars.) I tell crack heads and others if you get the cravings. Do not act on that, relax and take a couple puffs on a marijuana cig. But like anything out there it also can be abused. So in moderation. It will help you. (It's not substituting believe me.) Also young minds should not indulge, until your mind((25 yrs or so.)Unless you were raised with a Since of Responsibility.)) had time to mature. Because it will stunt your emotional growth. But as far as freeing you from a demon drug, dual pain, relax hyper individuals. And much more good things. Including help reverse mental illness. Now you have to remember. That the un-mature mind will turn it into something bad. (grow up ass holes) It’s a tool from god."Hay are u going to pass that!!"

I really don't favor the legalization of all drugs. There are a number of them that are truly harmful. But to contradict myself, I also believe it would be a better deterrent for drug addiction to have open access but social disapproval. I've said all along that this shouldn't be a legal matter. This is a social problem and best dealt with among ourselves. Let the churches or community activitists lead. Not the police.

Great story but a little late...
Millions of americans are already rotting in prison for the frivolous act of using a drug.
Remind me how this is a threat to the people of america or the government itself?
It's time the government rebutes these laws and regulates the drugs as a legal commodity, not a black market narcotic. - 5 months ago
