Fed Rejects Geithner Request for Study of Governance, Structure
How can any private banking institution deny a request from the Secretary of the Treasury when he/she wants to study that institutions structure? How is this not the Federal Reserve asserting that they have more power than our government?
My favorite quote from the article:
“It is not obvious at all why that is a Treasury responsibility or even appropriate why the Treasury would undertake that kind of study,” said Robert Eisenbeis, chief monetary economist at Cumberland Advisors Inc. in Vineland, New Jersey, and a former Atlanta Fed research director. “The Fed was created by Congress and it is not part of the executive branch."
How is it not obvious to him? The Fed continues to appeal lawsuits it's lost to audit its books and this clown can't understand why the Treasury wants a "review of the central bank’s structure and governance?"
