McDonalds Density

If you go to northwest South Dakota, between Meadow and Glad Valley, there you will find the furthest spot from any McDonald's in the contiguous United States, a depressingly local 145 miles by car. This map was created by Stephen Von Worley, who used location data on the 13,000 plus MickeyD's locations along with some coding-fu to generate the above map. What we see is as expected, a network of the franchises largely following the freeway and highway system and increasing in density in proportion to the population density. According to Von Worley, the furthest you can get from a McDonald's is in the aforementioned prairie wasteland of South Dakota, 107 miles as the crow flies from the nearest set of golden arches. And people wonder why we're a fat nation. For the complete breakdown and a full resolution version of the map, head over to Weather Sealed:

They should do a study of how many obese people live within a certain area of those fat factories.

My next road trip should obviously be to "northwest South Dakota, between Meadow and Glad Valley". Ill pack a lunch for the return breakfast and be ready to adapt on the fly!

Once a year or so, I eat the proverbial "hockey puck" egg-mc-whatzit for a very very early breakfast when I start a road trip,......but thats the extent of my patronage.
( The mc-whatzit still has happy connotations for me, and brings back fond memories ). Discus food is PORTABLE! AND FAST! I will not apologize,.....but I wont do it much.
p.s.- the ration size is somewhat underwhelming. - 4 months ago

I eat at McDonalds yes.... but as a treat once every month or 2 months... having so many will cause people to eat them daily... and become the fat lumps of lard you see in the US today.

I guess Army recruiters are going to look at this, and target the less "glowing" regions, to get fitter/more in-shape individuals.

Take away the silly glow affect. Might not look as impressive without a 50mile halo around each one.
But then again, that's a SHIT LOAD of McDonalds.

See why american food is so delicious, mmmm xxxlarge greasy burgers and cardboard chips, my fave!! Is McD's lifeling mission statement not " for everyone to have a McD's less than one mile from them. " There are at least 4 within a 3mile radius of me in Glasgow. So sad.
