I feel for Todd I have been going through similar with the Oxy. After only 2 years of use for pain. I suffer from depression and fibromyalgia and osteoarthritis. I found other ways to deal with the pain but miss the energy and feeling good, happy and motivated. I wish there were a way to chat with Todd directly. Narcotics Anonymous is the most help for me and saves millions of addicts.

This epidemic is at the tipping point, it's time to turn it all around.
What has changed this country, and lead to this misuse of prescriptions, is the 40+ yr old prohibition of medical marijuana.
All of that may be reversed when "real" Doctors can prescribe natural medicinal marijuana for patients. From CNN "It's possible that legalization would reduce national health-care costs, by easing demand for costly pharmaceuticals." This is the better truth. "In the most recent issue of O'Shaughnessy's, one doctor reported that his cannabis patients had either stopped or cut back their use of "analgesics of all kinds [including] Opioids; also ; psychotherapeutic agents including anti-anxiety medications, anti-depressants, anti-panic, obsessive-compulsive, anti-psychotic, and bipolar agents; gastrointestiminal agents including anti-spasmodics and anti-inflammatory medications; migraine preparations; anticonvulsants; appetite stimulants; immuno-modulators and immunosuppressives; muscle relaxants; multiple sclerosis management medications; ophthalmic preparations; sedative and hypnotic agents; and Tourette's syndrome agents."
Many lives can be saved.. one state at a time.
