- Gilead Sciences, Inc. discovered Tamiflu in the early 1990s and still holds the patent. Gilead licensed development and marketing rights to Roche in 1996. According to Fortune magazine, Donald Rumsfeld was Gilead's chairman from 1997 to 2001. It's unknown exactly how many shares he still owns in the company today, but ccording to federal financial disclosures filed by Rumsfeld, he has Gilead stock holdings valued at between $5 million and $25 million.The former Secretary of Defense is not the only politically-connected person to have ties to Gilead. Former Secretary of State George Shultz, who is on Gilead's board, has sold more than $7 million worth of Gilead stock since the beginning of 2005. Another Gilead board member is the wife of former California governor Pete Wilson.

-In 2005 George W. Bush pushed for and won $7.1 billion in emergency funding to prepare for an influenza pandemic that was not even yet on the horizon, more than 14% of which went to one company, Gilead Sciences, producer of Tamiflu. Prominent among his list of emergency measures was a call for Congress to appropriate another $1 billion explicitly for Tamiflu.

-During the Bird Flu scare, Tamiflu sales totalled $258 million in 2004 and were projected to exceed $1 billion in 2005

- Due to the swine flu outbreak, In April 2009 Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said the United States would release some of its stockpiles of anti-flu drugs Tamiflu and Relenza. The US government "has committed $1.8 billion to companies to make a swine flu vaccine," Reuters reported on September 30, 2009, in an article with the headline, "Big pharma jumps back into flu business."

- On September 21, 2009, Reuters reported that the United States had ordered 222 million doses of H1N1 vaccine from five drug makers that include GlaxoSmithKline, Sanofi-Pasteur, Australia's CSL, AstraZeneca's MedImmune division and Novartis. CSL has contracts to supply $180 million worth of bulk antigen to the US. Sanofi-Pasteur is providing more than 100 million doses to the US, in a $690 million order.On September 25, 2009, MedImmune said it has "received a federal order for 29 million more doses of its nasal H1N1 flu vaccine, bringing its total order to more than 40 million doses, with a value of about $453 million," according to Gazette.net. Seeking Alpha reported on August 24, 2009, that the "Swiss company Novartis received an order for $346 million for antigen and $343.8 million for adjuvant totalling $690 million in July." The most recent estimates have GlaxoSmithKline "reaping some $4.8 billion from the pandemic, between its Pandemrix vaccine, its Relenza antiviral drug, and other products such as antiviral face masks and flu diagnostics," Fierce Pharma reported on October 9, 2009.

- On October 15, 2009, the Financial Times ran the headline: "Tamiflu boosts Roche sales figures," and reported that sales figures "were boosted by bumper demand for Tamiflu amid persistent fears about a global flu pandemic." Tamiflu sales of $1.9 billion in the first nine months (of 2009) were more than four times ahead of the same period last year and third quarter sales figures were "nearly 10 times more than in the same period last year."

- On Sunday, October 25, 2009 President Obama signed a proclamation declaring the H1N1 influenza a national emergency. About 120 million doses of vaccine were expected to be made available by the middle of October 2009, though only 11 million doses have been shipped to health departments for use.

Also, there is live H1N1 in these vaccines as well as in the seasonal flu vaccine. This is to cause it to come in 'waves' as the administration's crystal ball says it will. Notice that Obama's announcement of a national emergency came a week after the nasal vaccine came out. The seasonal flu vaccine started the first wave, the nasal vaccine will start the second wave and the shot will start the third. With slight differences in the type of the flu, the viruses will merge and what is called 'stack' together and mutate into something deadlier than even the 1918 swine flu. This will not be because of those of us who refuse the vaccine but rather due to the sheep that take orders and get their various shots. I think those of us who are 'awake' know this is just a precursor to a martial law declaration. They have prepared metal bracelets with RFID for those who get the shot to wear. According to my friend who is the pandemic guy for a county in CA that shall remain nameless for now, there is a new strain called N275Y that is mutating, right now only in CA, that is supposed to be much worse than the swine flu. I'm getting sick as I type this. Four days ago I started running a low grade fever. Now I am feeling achey and my head is getting plugged up. I am either burning hot or freezeing cold. How would I know if it is the H1N1 Virus or just a cold? Should I go to a doctor or ride it out?

Declaring a national emergency will ratchet up the frenzy surrounding H1N1 prompting those who were on the fence to get the vaccination. I don't intend to get a shot which puts me in the same category of some healthcare workers in some countries who will not be getting it either.
This declaration comes one day after results of a CAnadian survey that reavealed only about one-third of people planned on getting the flut shot. Wow! Maybe this ntl emergency will boost that up to 50 per cent.

No one wants to die from the pig flu, obviously, but "pandemic"? really? This is a bunch of jargon. Our society is far too advanced for something like this to not become contained. It is true that some people will die, and some people will live. It's like any other viral or bacterial infection.
