I don't think I have read this many casualties in a single bomb blast in Iraq. I am nervous. My good friend's husband was just deployed to Iraq a few days ago for 12 months.2 suicide bombs exploded in downtown Baghdad today targeting the Justice Ministry and the Baghdad provincial administration,
The devastating attacks occurred just hours before Iraq's top leadership was scheduled to meet with heads of political parties on Sunday and reach a compromise on the disputed election law ahead of a crucial parliamentary vote in January.

Instead of blowing our wad in Iraq we should have focused on Afghanistan and beat the hell out of the Taliban...But oh no, Bush 2.0 just HAD to play the WMD game and convince us that this was the right move.
Let's all remember that PRE US INVASION Iraq had one of the lowest crime rates in the Arab world. I'm not saying they didn't have human rights issues, but at least people weren't blowing up buildings. Now every muslim man with a chip on his shoulder goes there to take a crack at our men and women and the Iraqi people. Enough is enough! Let someone else police the world.

The USA shouldn't be in the middle east.
Can we please just get out and invigorate our economy by streamlining the development, manufacture, and export of sustainable technologies as opposed to propping up the MIC...

FROM THE NEWS BLOG:
"Mr. Maliki is running for re-election in January and security is issue number one for the Iraqi people. If these attacks are followed by more violence he’ll have a hard time making the case that he’s the right leader for an American-troop-less Iraq. But if Maliki loses – would whoever takes his place be able to improve security or would the cycle of violence continue? And for President Obama – will an Iraq returning to the violence of 2006 and 2007 really allow for him to complete a troop withdrawal in the next two years?" - 4 months ago

How does this make it better? Would you rather have innocent women and children be the targets instead of our brave soldiers. No one should be the target and the violence is just getting worse. The troops need to be immediately pulled out.

Whenever Ministry is used I think of 1984.
Hate is hate. No one makes someone hate. No one can be blamed for the hate someone has. That's their own fruition.

it's just so pathetic... while credit must be given to those that have/are giving a real effort @ democracy over there,,, it's just never been been a part of their culture, i don't profess to know much about their religion, or their koran, but it seems to me that a religion that "forbids" so much, and treats the sexes so infinitely different, that a true democracy will never take hold. even i gotta admit, this mission, this resolve,,, can't we just concentrate on the w.o.t./al qaeda/taliban? ? ? i dunno,,, i'm just sayin'...
