Stewart hosted Palestinian democracy activist Mustafa Barghouti and human rights activist Anna Baltzer, author of A Witness in Palestine, who explained the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from the perspective of the Palestinian side.
According to a letter reportedly written by Baltzer and circulated by blogger Eric Johnson, the show "was overwhelmed with angry emails and phone calls prior to the appearance, and up until the last minute it seemed like they might cancel."
"During the taping the show had its only heckler in 11 years," Baltzer wrote. "The entire staff were very nervous and may come to regret the monumental decision (and not make it again) as they will surely be inundated now that the show has aired."
At one point during the interview, Barghouti asserted: "We [Palestinians] are struggling for liberty, we are struggling for justice. It's Palestinians who have been subjected to the longest occupation in history and a system of segregation that is totally unjust."

It's rare to even hear the Palestinian side of the conflict. Many people who are pro-Israel have never even met a Palestinian or even heard their grievances

I thought freecrack posted this article, just kidding.

What, suddenly peace broke out ;)

I saw the whole interview. And there was some ass said you lie when the Palestinian man was talking, Not rite, how will there be peace if they can't even talk. Zionist will not even talk, that is very sad. Not all Jews are Zionist.

I watched the on air interview which was condensed. Miss Baltzer could not get a word in and was interrupted several times by Mr. Barghouti.
Rude if you ask me.
At the end of the interview Stewart look a little worried. I wish I could here what he leaned in and said to the 2 of them.-

Better words than bombs. I'm sure the pro-Israeli groups would agree it's better to complain about words than dead relatives. Anything (well, you know what I mean) is better than more (preventable) deaths in the world.
I'm sure Jon wants the killing and violence to end as quickly as anyone. Jon airing this show could only be motivated by a desire to bring about a peaceful solution. God Speed Jon.
Note: I am not pointing the finger at anyone, this is not an attempt to find or place blame in the long standing conflict.

It really bugs me that if the Israeli's get the smallest amount of criticism, they will label any of their critics as anti-semites and any criticism as anti-semitic. Its a load of self-righteous BS and really puts the middle east conflict into perspective. I'm definitely not going to say the Palestinians are purely victims, but the reactions Israeli's have towards any form of criticism makes me feel like maybe the Palestinians really are the under-dogs.

Oh, gosh trying to be balanced and getting another side of a story like true journalists do and they get hate for it? This type of reaction just makes pro-Israel groups appear to be the bully and overly-defensive to criticism.

This is America. Since when do we the people have to abide by Zionist Law. The Hell with AIPAC or whoever is complaining. Jon Stewart has the Constitution on his side and freedom of speech is recognized among We the People. I say just run over anyone who is hellbent on removing our rights and liberties. If we had a government of the people, AIPAC and all other foreign PAC's and lobbyists would be locked up somewhere until the first arrival of el al airlines to return them anywhere but here. There has been thousands of years of hate between the Zionists and Arabs and since 700 A.D. and 1947 Islam and zionism mixes like milk and lemon. There is thousands of years of nothing but hate. Ban their religions for a couple of generations and perhaps a decent civilization could be created. Imagine a middle east where the people are sane and civilized and living in total peace. Just get all foreigners and warmongers to leave and give peace a chance.

Hmm, which Palestinian would you like me to describe to you that I have met as a pro-Israeli, the rich cab driver with a mansion in Jericho and two wives with their own houses, who puffed hash with me and almost took me to see Ian Anderson in Caesarea, or the Half Puerto Rican Girl from Lodi who's dad sent her to get hitched in Muslim fashion to a random guy she eventually ran away from? I have heard their side of the story, what I have never heard is Palestinians acknowledging their own racist sexist history and present terrorist flaws and exchanging them for something greener or better in a public way. For god's sake they blame Israelis because they refuse to stop killing long enough to build sewers. This small pop that gets more per capita humanitarian aid than starving people in Sudan is a lot richer and more corrupt than they let on to you sucker bleeding hearts. If you knew the ACTUAL history before 1948 you would be honest that Palestinians have had genocidal blood on thier hands for centuries and that their MUSLIM neighbors killed more of them in months than Israel has in a half of a century!
By the way, ZIONISM is a secular philosophy that espouses religious freedom while Hamas is fascist, homophobically violent and sexist. Are yall feeling your fleas?
Cause pro-Palestinians can't seem to sense the dogs in thier midst for some reason.-

Is Israel's position so weak it can't even withstand basic dialog? Is the ultimate goal not peace? No matter how many bomb, bullets or rocks are used before it is all said and done the sides will have to talk to each other. Why not skip the mayhem and go straight to the communication?

Oh because of "wit" like this:
"Apparently we have Joe Wilson with us tonight."
Revealing anger, bitterness and total agenda baring views.
If either side was realistic they would know that democratically speaking that all it would take is one side to kill a few and any talks of diplomacy would fall through. their eye for eye mentality is totally childish.

The Israeli lobby is an overwhelming force in American politics. Foreign government lobbies are normally tightly controlled, but Israel does such a good job of conflating itself with both the religion and the ethnic group to the point that it can more or less avoid these controls.

You know in parts of the Middle East the enemy of my enemy is considered a friend. If we backed the Palestinians in this we wouldn't have to worry about terrorism or oil for a good long time.
-
I find it appalling how they edited out Ms. Baltzer from the television broadcast. Israel is an Apartheid government and a greivous violator of the Geneva Convention and International Law. The truth can be hidden but for so long.
-
Have they ever watched the Daily Show BEFORE that interview Pro-Israeli People?!? EVERY time in the past he's mentioned the conflict to me he's displayed an Anti-Israeli stance. Literally, every single time.
Pro-Israeli Morons: "But he's a Jewwwwwwwww!!!!!!!"
SHOCKING HUH!?! A Jew who can think for himself. Jon Stewart isn't going to support you because you share a common ancestor and he's not going to support you illegal ass war.

JUDGE GOLDSTONE : HUMANITY FIRST
Amazing interview with Bill Moyers
Watch here : http://www.pbs.org/moyers/journal/10232009/watch.htmlRICHARD GOLDSTONE: These attacks amounted to reprisals and collective punishment, and constitute war crimes. The government of Israel obviously has a duty to protect its own citizens. That in no way justifies a policy of collective punishment of a people under effective occupation, destroying their means to live a dignified life and the trauma caused by the kind of military intervention the Israeli government called Operation Cast Lead.
...and this man identifies himself as a Zionist !!!!!
