As soon as it becomes marketable we'll have snow every Christmas everywhere

Russia's doing it in Moscow this year...gonna make it snow by seeding the clouds before they get to Moscow... I think they got to it before the Chinese

im sorry but this is really extreme, not great for our world, and not worth it....

How come it is considered perfectly sane to try to control the weather, but evil to ask the worlds people to control their population in a civil manner?

Correct me if I'm wrong but don't we make a shit ton of fake snow every ski season in the US?

Great, so now what?

China's going to make it continuously snow on their farm fields... as if that's going to magically cure all the chemicals they've pumped into the soil, and all the mountains of garbage made right beside the rivers?

The only practical area I would like to see this technique used is in areas suffering from massive droughts, and even then only on a small scale so as not to f up the entire area somehow.

Maybe make it rain on deserts so as to try and get plants growing there again, or is that too big of a dream?

for every action, there is an equal, but opposite, reaction.

It's called cloud seeding, its really nothing new, they used to do it in Colorado to increase snow amounts at the ski areas. But just because its not new doesn't mean its not controversial.

1. This is old tech.
2. it only rains or snows if the whether conditions are right anyway.
3. you can't make it rain or snow by seeding clouds if they're not the right sort of clouds and there's not enough moistoire etc.
4. Even if you do manage to make it snow or rain you're still never entirely sure that it wouldn't have rained or snowed anyway.

Well, we're screwed. This can't be good for the environment.

I saw this on a news segment on TVB then read about it on Facebook from my brother who just came back from Beijing. I thought it was just some mumbo jumbo... but now it's just kinda freaky.

seriously people, this has been going on all over the world since the mid-forties some even claim it was used to wash the hippies at Woodstock, so its already been weaponized...chill, we have much bigger problems like world market manipulation, wage slavery, and the general fuckery that goes on daily. ask the Chinese what they're more worried about snow, or sweat shops...

Though amazing at the end it's scary. There are some good uses like helping a region through a drought, keeping agriculture in tip top shape. It could also be used to wage war on other countries and take out civilizations with torrential weather. I like the let mother nature take its course approach but pandora's box has been opened.

I'm so sick of doomsayers who are scared of every scientific innovation that comes our way. Man is the only species capable of such feats, so we may as well milk it for what it's worth and see where it takes us.
