Sesame Street mocks Fox News with "Pox News," conservative blogger not amused

It's Sesame Street's 40th anniversary and while Google is celebrating with Big Bird's feet, we are more interested in Oscar the Grouch's latest antics. Yes, it seems the surly, trash-can-living muppet is busting out his reporter chops these days and much to the dismay of his audience he's being all lovey-dovey with his interviewees. At the end of the segment one of his viewers calls to tell him she's changing the channel, "From now on I am watching 'Pox' News. Now there is a trashy news show."

Andrew Breitbart's Big Hollywood site is not amused. T

Looks like people are starting to get their balls back (sexism unintended). This bodes well for our future. Go Sesame Street!

Andrew Breitbart is getting his panties in a bunch about a joke. Kids don't even get the reference, and adults that do shouldn't take it any further than satire. Oscar was reporting for GNN (which is supposed to be CNN), however no liberal bloggers have decried the show for mocking CNN.

The real issue here is that this guy takes conservative politics so seriously he can't even enjoy a joke without making it an attack against Right-Wing politics by the Leftist Media. Since when did Sesame Street, a show geared towards toddlers, preschoolers, and kindergartners, have a leftist political lean?

This is not only over-reactionary, but it's plain stupid. Get off your high horse and learn to laugh at yourself; we haven't stopped laughing at you clowns since you followed Bush around as he drove the short bus conservative movement off a huge cliff.

That was funny and cute and that blogger is a fool. Children who are watching sesame street aren't really at a level where they are interested in politics/aware of anything negative going on concerning Fox news/can recognize satire.

I'm pretty sure conservatives aren't amused by ANY form of satire...

This is taken out of context. The rest of the episode has Oscar working for "GNN" Grouch News Network. The "GNN" logo is shown over and over again.

The Pox News line was a throw away line reference to another potential grouch-universe news show (where trashy = good).

So it isn't like they singled Fox out here, in fact, it is the opposite of that.

    LOL! Very nice.

Valid point laserdog, but it's still funny.

seems to me that sesame street was mocking all news.

hey, doesn't that include bloggers now?

That was extremely low-yield satire, especially compared to some of the Fox News parodies I've watched on other shows. And even then, this whole skit looks like it was parodying cable news in general without having one specific target.

Stage Right's knee-jerk reaction to this is very hard to take seriously.
