Only 1 in 3 who want H1N1 shot can find it

Only about a third of adults who have tried to get a swine flu vaccine have been able to get it, according to a new national poll released Friday.

That's true even for people who are at extra risk for severe complications and should be at the front of the line. The numbers are about the same for parents who tried to get the vaccine for their children, the Harvard School of Public Health poll found.

Swine flu vaccine has been available in the United States for about a month, but supplies have been limited because of manufacturing delays. However, availability is picking up, said Dr. Anne Schuchat of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. About 38 million doses of swine flu are currently available, a one-week increase of about 11 million doses. Another 8 million doses are expected next week, she added.

Overall, the poll found about 80 percent of the adults in priority groups said they haven't tried to get it yet and 60 percent of parents haven't sought it out for their kids.

The Harvard telephone poll surveyed about 1,000 adults last weekend. The margin of error was plus or minus 3.8 percentage points.

Many of the poll's findings seemed consistent with what the government has been hearing and seeing, said CDC officials. Nearly a third of Americans who tried and failed to get vaccine said they were very frustrated, the poll found, and that frustration has been evident at long lines at vaccination clinics.

But it was encouraging to see that nine in 10 people who couldn't get vaccine will try again, said Schuchat, who heads the CDC's National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases.

The poll also found:

About 5 percent of those surveyed said they'd been vaccinated.

About 60 percent said there were swine flu vaccine shortages in their community.

About half who tried couldn't find information about where to get the vaccine.

Because of limited supplies, there have been situations in which vaccine went to doctor's offices or clinics intended for children or other priority groups and it wasn't publicized, Schuchat said.

Only 1 of 1,000,000 people who don't get the vaccine will contract swine flu. And less will die.

they can have mine- oh wait - i don't even have insurance. well if i did they could have it- id rather get sick than risk what is in that serum. i live in az and i dont know anyone who has gotten it. just thought i would throw that out there as well. i think we should be more worried about Narco wars.

It amazes me that there is not enough H1N1 vaccine when all I see are these nut cases saying it's going to kill you. I had mine and I am fine,

tell people who are on the fence about getting the vax that there is not enough for everybody, and it will sway many to choose the vax. get-it-while-you-can mentality. they have been preparing this vax for years, (before the initial outbreak in mexico- look it up), spent millions on the scare campaign, and then they don't happen to have enough??? WAKE UP or line up, seems to be the theme here...

I am a some what healthy person so I chose the flu over the shot. The flu was rough but it did not kill me. I have never gotten a flu shot as an Adult and can not remember getting one as a child. I guess I have always gotten the flu. It always last two or two and a half weeks and then all's well . Am I part of the problem or am I just paranoid again?

Their artificial scarcity trick of the vaccine didn't work. It's a good thing that people are saying NO! to big pharma's vaccine scams

There are certainly benefits to modern medicine, but if many people would change their diets (drastically), and take care of themselves with some sort of cardio training, they would have the proper nutrients and energy to heal and protect themselves. Their are exceptions of course- people whose immune systems are already taxed fighting other viruses, pregnant women, etc (though i'd be doubly scared of the vaccine if i were pregnant). I work in schools around hundreds of vermin lol, and stay healthy-Kale, acorn squash, and salmon tonight :). It doesn't have to be expensive; try your local farmer's market.

    Can't you see?
How is it possible that there is a shortage of this vaccine?

What a great tactic to manipulate people in going to get it.

It's an old sale strategy game, you tell them there is "limited availability", "limited edition", "it's a rare piece" etc.
It implies the scare tactic :"Oh no! They might run out of it" and people hurry up to go get it completely forgetting about the fact if it's really necessary and/or safe.

Big Pharma you are not going to fool me.
    LOL.

If anyone is interested, here are top virologists and scientists admitting on tape all kinds of interesting things about the H1N1 vaccine, like suggesting the media tell people that there is not enough of the vaccine to go around.

At the video above they say that there is as much mercury in the shot as in a can of tuna.
If the tuna is not recommended to eat why a shot containing the same substance would?

I ask all of you to please find data about the statement above (tuna versus shot).

What about the difference between eating mercury through tuna than having it injected it in your blood?

I will get back on this later on, not much time at hand right now.

those 1/3 are idiots for getting it and the 2/3 are idiots for trying to get it...
more like uneducated (about whats in the shot) people, but i am calling them idiots because they dont take time to look into what they are actually putting in their body

Anyone see the movie, "Invasion" with Nicole Kidman? I watched it the other day. I don't think I'll be standing in a line to get a flu shot any time soon:))

10 out of 10 people have access to water, sleep, and exercise. Vaccine-free for 10 years, guess how many times I've had the flu? Once, and was over it in 4 days. Tough it out, people.
