Not these guys Music bloggers are always labeling bands as "underrated." I do it all the time. Probably because attempting to right the injustices of popular recognition (or the lack thereof) is one of the main reasons why fans want to spread the word about their favorite artists. Today the question occurred to me: What is the most underrated rock band? This one's a natural to put before you, my highly intelligent readers. Tell me, in your opinion, what rock band (not artist)...

    • well, firstly, i'm flattered to be one of the underrated band from bandung. we're currently working on our first album releasing end of this year under FastForward Records. and yes, it's true that we, bands from Bandung think our music will not be well received in big countries such as US. It's a whole different ears up there.
we will be covering the cure's love song in our soon released album and i think we got the most creative arrangement for the song which has been covered by lots of great artist. you guys should check it out. i'll attach a video from one of our performance performing the song. give us your opinions, i'll be grateful. keep in touch, y'all.

please open this www.myspace.com/hollywoodnobody for more songs,
and this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZaODaUWxndE for the cure's love song cover.

    • Less Than Jake. It takes a lot to tour for almost 2 decades, and never have a hit single. Plus they founded Fueled By Ramen records. Thanks to Fall Out Boy and others, these guys literally don't have to do anything to make money for the rest of their lives. But, they still tour, still record. Just for the love of it.

    • The small faces (before rod stewart joined them) or the velvet underground in my opinion. these bands influenced so many bands of all genre's and did groundbreaking things never done before in music, yet not many people know of them today.

    • THis question is too difficult to name just one, but Television comes to mind, Marquee Moon an almost perfect record, and Tom Verlain has been a very influencial guitarists to many of the bands that we love today, Nels Cline from Wilco is one modest example. Television is somewhat unknown from the popular spectrum, but their influence is apparent in a lot of the Indie music we hear today.

    • blackfalcon, I'm not sure if anyone was expecting to find the actual answer today, but Bandung bands like Coklat, the Changcuters, and Mocca all are at least known in Bandung and parts of Asia. Here is a band that even people in Bandung are asking about. They are called Hollywood Nobody.

    • The most under-rated band of all time is... any band from Bandung, Indonesia. Some reasons are apparent enough. Most of the music will never make it to the United States. The artists don't think Americans would ever like their music. The recording industry would not shop for an artist from Bandung. On the other hand, Bandung is the music capital of one of the largest nations on the planet. The artists fuse eastern and western styles and sing in a variety of languages from the country's mixed heritage. Finally, there is something of a music revolution going on in Bandung where young people are taking to it all over.

      You did ask.
