What IS the Meaning of Life?

Image...
"Before you read this, realize that the truth isn’t always true and the false isn’t always false, that you must open your minds eye and follow your own soul’s judgment on actuality. This is my actuality that I am sharing with you…"

Did God create us, or did we create him? And if he created us then who him?
What happens when we die, and what of reincarnation and heaven or hell? Or nirvana and the seven Chakras? What of multiple and parallel universes?

To answer these questions and more, because I'm a very curious guy, I have been working on a philosophy paper full of my idea's and really want to know what current.com has to think.

So please let me know what your thoughts are on this thesis, it's much appreciated.

As of now I think the meaning of life is wisdom, to become as wise as possible.

Have you read Eckhardt Tolle's book, A New Earth? It addresses the same ideas your treatise does in very similar ways. I think you are very perceptive about the different levels of energy and consciousness with which our physical selves constantly interact.

No offense, but I hang out with enough philosophy majors that this topic is old.

  •

Have you seen on Youtube the What the Bleep series.

We are, God , creating. And it's still in process. The basic ,smallest amount of energy is a quanta,or quanti, and we are all made of the Same energy, everything is. The whole universe, all universes, all levels of perception, all non local states all exist of this same energy, It is unending, limitless, infinite, indestructable and undefineable as it is in constant movement. The material world is what our conscious awareness is manifesting. But this is a very small part of what we are as a whole, and we are only consciously aware of this dimension, even as we exist now on other levels, many at the same time, without being aware of it. It is said , right now, that there is a shift in perception, that we are becoming more aware of the "other Levels", a spiritual awakening. A process I beleive that is that we as human being are becoming aware that we are more than just this body and that this body is a step in our evolution and whatever the next step might be is already in the process. I don't remember the dying or the being reborn, but do imagine the journey of the soul is the larger issue, yet to be accessable to us. And the chakras as energy points thru which specific energys acess this level of existance, throgh us and our health to help us complete our goals and enhance our spirits making us more loving and compassionate peoples. that's a lot to try to get out here. and alot of it probably sounds out there but I don.t care , it's pretty much the basics for me. Multiple and parallel universes, there there, and sometimes we are to, maybe more so with the shift in perception, and more.

Since there is paranormal beings, which do exist(Is proven), much is unexplained of how the Bible was related to all of this...

Contacting one's spirit is beyond focus and concentration, no need to believe God, neither to have absolute faith...

Those of us who can see do not speak of it, but since you asked you are already more aware than many souls that inhabit this dimension. Life is an illusion with a physical awareness that you are somewhere, I believe in every action there is a reaction according to physics and enlightened beings. Therefor your energy or spirit call it what you want goes somewhere. I like too think it's all about Karma and reincarnation where you go I do not know. You travel with souls you are currently connected with through unknown dimensions and your actions are like a tape recording and the seeds you plant be they good or evil you will reap in the next life.

I think I'll use some David Bowie lyrics to answer this, from a song called Quicksand.

I'm closer to the Golden Dawn
    Immersed in Crowley's uniform
    Of imagery
I'm living in a silent film
    Portraying Himmler's sacred realm
    Of dream reality
I'm frightened by the total goal
    Drawing to the ragged hole
And I ain't got the power, anymore
No I ain't got the power anymore

I'm the twisted name on Garbo's eyes
    Living proof of Churchill's lies
    I'm destiny
I'm torn between the light and dark
    Where others see their targets
    Divine symmetry
Should I kiss the viper's fang
Or herald loud the death of Man
I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore

I'm not a prophet or a stone age man
Just a mortal with the potential of a superman
    I'm living on
I'm tethered to the logic of Homo Sapien
Can't take my eyes from the great salvation
    Of bullshit faith
If I don't explain what you ought to know
You can tell me all about it
    On the next Bardo
I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore

    Don't believe in yourself
    Don't deceive with belief
    Knowledge comes with death's release

Oh my, I love that photo! But then, I am obsessed with "The Creation of Adam" painting. It has been my desktop background, cell phone wallpaper and tattoo for years. :P

Also I read your essay and it is quite interesting. :)

Love it. I am (and have been for a long time) an infinite multiverse kinda guy. I just don't see why you need to split out body/mind/soul in an infinite universe. Why not just consciousness? In the context of an infinite universe it is still infinite. As Bill Murray said in "Groundhog Day" (the best depiction of multiverses in cinematic history) "I am a god". We all are gods because our consciousness stretches to infinity in all the unseen universes and dimensions. In the Gospel of Thomas Jesus says "You are all children of God" and I think (but I'm not sure) that is what he meant. Trying to define consciousness into finite categories is just a reflection or our perceptions of the apparent limits of existence, also known as maya. Whad'ya say we agree that infinite is infinite and we don't understand it all? Let's just start from where we are and try to improve the universe by taking care of our fellow sentient beings and reducing their suffering. That is the heart of Buddhism. I'd write more but time is short and I'm missing Hannity.

there is no meaning to life because the meaning to how you should live is under christ philosophy be kind to others as you would to yourself because he is yourself and this world we live in is inside a mans dream

and we will come to find, that we are all one mind, imagine it all conceivable...

The meaning, how and why is love and if one day you find wisdom, it will be that simple and that obvious. The rest is fluff and you're not welcome.

    [ERRATIC THOUGHT TIME]
I can no longer believe in a "meaning of life". "Life" - this concept that's manifested from human curiosity,... doesn't have to have a specific purpose. Life exists whether we ponder it or not. And after personal spiritual investigation, scientific research and everyday conversations,... I've come to the conclusion that if I, personally, don't know life's meaning, it's safe to assume that nobody does. Existential answers are only THEORIES, and there's no shortage of them. But to adhere to only one theory, disregard or disbelieve other theories, and let your personal belief interfere with EVERYONE'S life is ill-fated and oft divisive. Personally,... I think either everyone is right, or everybody's wrong.

So,... what's the meaning of life? Don't answer that - the answer is quite possibly moot.
Just express goodness, love if you wanna love, pray if you want to, ponder the imponderable, exhibit peace AND let not your credo impede the lives of others.

(Man,... I probably come off as an oddball weirdo, huh?!)

there is no such thing a a soul, a conciousness, or even life.
all we are is an extremely elegant self-sustaining and self-replicating chemical reaction. free will is an illusion. decisions are made based on the physical structure of your brain, and what electrical impulses and hormones happen to be floating around.

in short, when you break it down, anything and everything comes down to the laws of physics

Also, people arent wearing enough hats.

i've never spelled out my beliefs after falling away from hardcore christianity a few years back. if i weren't still so hurt about being lied to by them for 21 years, i know i would come to something similar. i realize i am allowing my "hurt" to keep me a bitter atheist at the moment. all of life is change and i agree with you that there is no other path than to attain wisdom.

i also hang with a lot of philosophy majors and this is incredibly more advanced than the average Pepperdine student. just saying.

    conclusion? <3 :)

also though, i think there is something to be said for mystery. take away mystery and i find little enjoyable. i can't say i want to know, 100% positively, what the meaning of life is yet...

Philosophy reminds me of this quote:
Oh what a tangle web we weave, when we practice to deceive.....ourselves.

Unfortunately, I happen to know the meaning of life. Good thing I only remember what it is from time to time...
