I graduated this past May and applied for part time and full time jobs. After months of being rejected by employers for not having work experience because I was earning a college education at the time, I started working as a part time host at a restaurant. I recently picked up another part time job so now I'm working two part time jobs to meet bills. Hopefully I get accepted into grad school next year.

The first term I learned on-the-job after college was "reduction in force". It was a rude awakening. I finished graduate school in a recession and it took 18 months to find a full-time, regular job. After 15 years in a nice office, I'm looking again, but instead of living at home I have a mortgage to pay. Life is cyclical.

awww poor ickle babies can't work and do school at the same time...so sad.

I recently landed a job after a year internship and a 3 month summer internship... (waste of time ) i should have started working part time (data entry and what not) and b-s'ed by internship credit... low and behold i have realized you need to start anywhere at any position even if you are over qualified, i plan to show my worth and what i can offer with my education.
p.s. NEVER WORK COMMISSION :) -

Well with my college education along with ten years of work experience, I've found myself as a part time nanny and a seasonal photographer at a Target Portrait Studio. Not exactly everything I imagined. Student loans, bills, living expenses. It's a great time.

i graduated from Pepperdine university in May with a degree in psychology and sociology, expecting an HR job to fall in my lap with no problem. especially because i worked full-time all through college at a well-known, national bank.
i was very wrong. entry level jobs for those with a BA in the human services simply do not exist anymore. i'm considering a career path change, or graduate school at the moment while i work for a rehab center as the only person with an education in my department.
its a tough world you know. america tells you to play by a certain plan, which anyone born in the 80s will remember is education, education and more EDUCATION. well america, i did it her way and i make a few bucks more than minimum wage, owe 50 grand to sallie mae and everyday i'm grateful i even have a job and get to live on my own.
