i received the following e-mail:
"Thanks for taking the time to participate on Current.com. We understand that some community members' comments can be frustrating and that everyone is passionate about their views, but it's important to keep the conversation focused on discussion, not personal attacks. We have therefore removed your comment (below) from the post “Bachmann calls on protestors to use 'scare' tactics against Congress” ( http://current.com/items/91380855_bachmann-calls-on-protestors-to-use-scare-tact...).
Please review our community guidelines (http://current.com/s/community_standards.htm) for more detail on what is acceptable. If you continue to violate these guidelines more severe action may be taken.
Let me know if you have any questions.
Best,

Removed Comment:
“that you're nothing but a name calling poster? Sure”
so i responded:
"hello xxxxxxx,
well, sincerely, you're going to have to tell me how that violates any guidelines.
have you read any of the other posts on that page?
have you looked at any of my other postings?
you'd probably find much better material for your charges.
in this instance, i will stand my ground.
if you prefer that i remove myself from the conversation, that too can be arranged.
it's in your hands.
regards,
pakazak"
and received this response:
"Hi pakazak,
In your comment you said “... you're nothing but a name calling poster.” Calling another community member a name-caller is considered a personal attack and a violation of our community guidelines, which is why your comment was removed.
I hope this clarifies the reason for the removal, but if you have any other questions please let me know."
so beware.
calling someone a "name calling poster" will get you busted

Yeah it does violate the community standards. There are a few key words that are a green-light to getting removed. Calling someone a stalker, troll, or any vulgarity is going to get attention. There's also the chance that said person was offended and flagged it, in which case it is most likely going to get removed.
-
But as I have found these flaggers can dish it out but can't take it. Laugh because you got to them by being flagged my man. Don't take it personnel I never do!

Nettle, really? then the e-mail boxes of 60% of the posters i see on current must be jammed to the max with admonitions regarding violation of community standards.
nice to know we're being watched though. -
Why does anyone tell on anyone else for such childish shit? Do you have any idea how many times a day someone here on Current calls me a name? BooHoo I will cry to my mom
Snitches get stitches and wind up in ditches.
Damn I hope that doesnt violate community standards

I've disagreed with you plenty of times on here, but I feel you here. I've gotten no fewer than a half dozen of these emails. They're obligated to remove the comment if somebody flags it, don't let it get to you.
-
I told someone he was nuts, and I got the same treatment. Now I refrain from stating anything of substance, because, as we all know, content is dangerous.
-
Oh, by the way, someone called me an idiot this morning, and I'm traumatized for life. Oh cruel world.

"don't flag me, bro!" :)))))))))))
yep, i've been reviewing some of my comments and posts from a year or more ago, and some of the shit that was slung at me back then makes today's insults sound downright civilized...
so i flag those old REALLY bad insults now. standards are standards and paybacks are hell, eh?
rock on!

It takes a lot to drag me back to current these days specifically because of this BS... The last time it happened I tried to explain to them that this is precisely how they run off people so frequently... they of course never responded, nor care. Current is a service, and they have to pander to everyone, if disenfranchising people by censoring their stories and comments is what they want to do, then they will fail, and I can not say I will be sad to see it happen...
The kid on the playground will never be normal if he is not tantalized by his peers for being weird, they either have to be goaded into standing up for themselves, or goaded to stopping what ever is causing them to be harassed... since most adults have the mentalities of a 6 yo... well... here is a good example
http://discoveringdad.blogspot.com/2008/06/playground-justice-memories-of-hazing...
Yet we are not allowed to retaliate to the belligerence with the force it often requires... thanks current censor man.Further more, vanguards "journalism" makes me want to puke... I am admittedly a very liberal person; vanguard on the other hand is so slanted it makes me take out sessions on the punching bag, literally, I can not watch it because it makes me that angry... quite possibly more so than fox news.
To dig even deeper, currents faux green movement hippy wannabe band wagon... WTF... "What is your green innovation? We are using the same water bottles for a month!"... Good job, why not take that effort you just put into typing that to point out that no one is looking into water efficiency of cooling the plastic for the bottles, and making it regulatory standards... or using the steam from the cooling process to co-generate electricity, and stop being so bloody wasteful... or how about tank less water heaters that get 95+% efficiency over the incredibly wasteful tank heaters that have to keep water hot 24/7... How about induction stoves as well!!! These are the things that need to be adopted for us to move off of fossil fuel electric production. If you point out to the plebeian followers on this site that putting a bottle of rocks in the tank of your toilet is not going to even come close to solving problems they become overwhelmingly defensive, are only able to spew the lines they have been feed... kind of reminds you of the tea baggers, check that, mimics the tea baggers mentality.
I could go on for a long time, but I will stop now... I hope something in there opens someones eyes a little so that it does not blind side you in a sickening epiphany like it did me... if it does, I suggest a punching bag, both aerobic and stress relieving at once.

When i first came to current, i had one of my comments posted on t.v. Naturally, i cuss like an asshole. They changed a little bit of my language and still aired it. I got this e-mail telling me they changed some of the wording and it was chosen to be aired. No biggie, they just wanted it to sound nice haha

Hey guys,
First, it's important to note that isolating a comment can take it out of context. Discussions that escalate from being about the topic to being about the people discussing the topic can veer into violations of our community guidelines. One of the reasons for the Community Guidelines on Current is to facilitate debates that remain focused on the issues being discussed. If you’re calling out a previous post, reference the ideas and statements made, rather than the person who is making them.
While it may not always seem to be the case, we have a variety of tools in addition to flagging that help us detect violations. Flagging content does not mean it will be automatically removed, and not flagging content that you believe to be in violation doesn't help promote healthy discussions and debates on Current.
We appreciate your feedback about our practices and we will be taking this into consideration as we shape and improve our system here on Current.

I think for the most part,... Current has relevant and useful conversations. Sure, nowadays there seems to be more and more personal attacks,... but that's just because I'm a stupid, weird Gargoyle. If it's a joke, it furthers your point and it's not severely damaging - then say it. It's the childish threats, trolling and fake profiles that I can't stands. But,... ugly responses are the norm within conversations.
-
Yeah plusaf, someone we both know was suspended for two weeks for this response:-> "& re: sending you a message pertaining to the fact that you are a"devious little puke," I don't clearly recall, but then again if I did, it was probably overdue.
~ now, do what you do so well, whine and flag . . . the usual X/X m/o . . . . . Bwahahahahaha”- - - and for that our friend was silenced. . . you can call someone a mo****f***er, but don't dare call them a devious little puke!
