The evolution of CNN anchor Lou Dobbs from financial news wizard to populist defender of American jobs to right-wing promoter of "birther" conspiracies appears to have come to an abrupt end with his announcement Wednesday evening that he's leaving the network to "pursue new opportunities."

"This will be my last broadcast here on CNN, where I've worked for most of the past 30 years," Dobbs told an unsuspecting audience on Lou Dobbs Tonight.

Early reports indicate he's going cross the border to become an illegal in Mexico where he can buy cheap socialist gas for his Bentley.

    From the article:

"And some leaders in media politics and business have been urging me to go beyond the role here on CNN and to engage in constructive problem solving."

Dobbs said he "talked extensively" with CNN President Jonathan Klein and "we have agreed to a release from my contract that will enable me to pursue new opportunities."

    Hmmmm...

I don't think he is headed for Fox News, though, I'm sure they'll offer him a job.

Why watch news on TV? I don't get it.

I doubt Fox News will take him given the economic and trade policies the channel and its commentators support (although I suppose he could change his tune for the right amount of money).

Sounds more like he's getting ready to run for office, though I doubt it.

What ever happened to free speech. Is the extreme right the only ones to report the bad news? Lou Dobbs had some rights but then some extreme leftists are forcing him out. We have too many wild organizations with too much power. The American people are quiet as usual. We have AIPAC and many other organizations running this country while the public wallows in hopelessness. Legal Latinos have every right to live here in this country. There were still plenty of Latinos living here before and after the Alamo and San Jacinto and they have been serving this country as US Citizens. Corruption is so bad in Mexice that people seek all means to enter the USA. Understood. But I do not hear of so much hate for ayone like Dobbs when Limbaugh, Hannity and others tries to incite hate among the American people. Nobody has the guts to speak up about the real Problems we have like the Federal Reserve Banks and the moneymen who have found all sorts of criminal ways to manufacture wealth from fraud like Derivatives and bundled mortages that helped to bring this country down. Dobbs had nothing to do with this But Bush and his Moneyfriends did it all and nobody is making any noises about The Bush Gang. Why?? Is specific propaganda and hate mongers that powerful? Wake up only less than 2,000 politicians control your lives and no one does anything to change it. Sad.

Looks like ol' Lou shot himself in the foot by pushing the "birther" issue. Probably headed to Fox "News" where he'll be serving coffee to Hannity.

I hope he goes to Fox and heads up a campaign to get all of the Illegals out of this Country!
I have been looking for a job for months and see these non-Americans doing my work. I want a job. Get them out of here already!

I think some things should be cleared up. Dobbs was basically forced out because he didn't stick to CNN's no "bs" policy (Dobbs liked spewing opinions over facts).

"Months ago the president of CNN/U.S., Jonathan Klein, offered a choice to Lou Dobbs, the channel’s most outspoken anchor. Mr. Dobbs could vent his opinions on radio and anchor an objective newscast on television, or he could leave CNN.

Lou Dobbs, seen at a demonstration last year, had been asked to drop his conservative talk on TV or take his views to radio.

For a time, Mr. Dobbs did tone down his TV rhetoric, but on Wednesday he made a more drastic decision: He chose opinion" ...

In addition, It seems FOX "News" doesn't even want him

"At the time Mr. Dobbs was characterized by people close to him as a potential hire for the Fox Business Network. But a Fox representative said Wednesday, 'We have not had any discussions with Lou Dobbs for Fox News or Fox Business.'”
