Whistleblowers Say Oil Reserve Numbers Deliberately Inflated to Avoid Panic, Appease the US

Image...
World oil reserves are far lower than officially reported, the situation far more serious than publicly admitted, and we're already past peak oil. That's the word from two anonymous IEA whistleblowers, The Guardian reports. To add insult to industry, the figures were deliberately massaged, at least in part, to appease the United States:

Apparently the IEA was concerned that reporting the true reserve numbers -- and keep in mind that determining oil reserves is as much art as science -- it would trigger a buying panic.

The US enters the picture encouraging the IEA to underplay the rate at which oil fields are being depleted -- something which the IEA has admitted in recent months is occurring more quickly than previously acknowledged -- while at the same time overplaying the possibility of new large discoveries.

Indeed, when one does the math on how much recent new oil finds, touted as 'huge', actually add to world reserves, the result is usually in days or weeks of additional world supply, not months, still less years.

Oil companies appease US by not disclosing actual reserves in lew of forcing the government to allow them to sell oil at inflated values to consumers.

honestly,..can anyone tell me how anyone on this planet can charge 1 through 9 tenths of a penny since there is no such currency nor can change be made for the exact measurement of one gallon....???

Good question Masterzip, just don't miss the point of their real intent <> they were stalling. They were deliberately carrying on a lie hoping the "big one" would come in, or hoping for a big breakthrough in liquid coal, or hoping a new fantastic process would be invented for obtaining oil from shale so they could dig up 1/3 of the nation (Mid-West). Or possibly hoping one of the above would save them from finally having to build my engine that does an exponential horsepower trick with air and water.

Now their lies have caught them.

It rips their guts out on the floor to admit my engine has been around since 2003 and they've fought it every day. They fought it in 1997 when Dr. Hertzberg first invented it, but he was an easy win because he made some mistakes. I fixed all the mistakes. It will produce 1100% of a combustion engine but they'll blow billions to avoid building it. Your billions. The excess billions they charged us all at the pumps last year to give them time to conduct this stall.

Here's a link I just wrote telling the story of the engine => http://www.energeticforum.com/74311-post255.html

It just seems like you can't trust any statistical information anymore, is there anything sacred left when it comes to reporting facts?

Yeah, that's what is best for everyone! I would love to see how lying to the public is good for us ever.

. the oil deposits can be "seen" on seismic charts. all the deposits are known, if a new field is discovered then it was intentionally hidden to drive up price, which may be the case here. anonymous i.e.a. whistle blowers?

There for several YEARS they passed a rumor around the Earth was self-generating more crude oil. Perhaps the reason they stopped they found out out SLOW it does that, while we have the spigot cranked wide open with a pinch bar and a couple rubes shoving it harder.

I think this is just some paid "The Sky Is Falling" oil co. BS to try to give them an excuse to raise prices and make more record profits. The OPEC countries have been cutting back on production for years to try to raise prices. They have hundreds of oil platforms that are sitting idle because if they started producing the amounts of oil that they are capable of producing then the prices would fall drastically. They also know that it is just a matter of time before the use of oil is Drastically cut due to new technologies. Just shows how Very important it is to quickly come up with alternate energy technology.

I definitely saw this one coming.

Oil reserves are over estimated because the amount of reserves a company(or country) holds rights to increases its value. Therefore, anyone wanting to come in and invest has to pay a higher share price(based on the "reserve rights")

The higher you can "estimate" the value of the company holdings, the higher the price of the stocks will be.

It pays cold hard cash to overestimate reserves.

So Wetdog, the last 5-10 years of energy stock (crude oil) investors have been like totally fleeced right? And this over-estimation is what has CAUSED us to remain on oil too, right? So the whole dang House of Cards should fall, right? That's what should happen, right?

But it won't, because the Oil industry will play the Too Big to Fail card and won't be called to the mat to compensate the fleeced investors... because in the current economic reality for them to pay back the stolen monies would be too much of a hardship on them.

My engine could be designed and in production placed in old cars and new in 1 1/2 years provided the Manhattan Project still lives in the heart of men => http://www.energeticforum.com/74311-post255.html <> because "my engine" has been the dream of many for centuries, a dream that is reality if we want it. Steam and supercold air makes a tornado-level explosion inside the engine cylinder. Read the link => no pollution because there's NO EXHAUST.

Of course, Wetdog, I understand you have great ideas for engines also. So, which ones, Yours or Mine? Well, take a look at what happened with oil companies and ask yourself What caused this? Obviously it was the Money.

My engine does away with fuel pumps so it also takes away the Money incentive to screw people over. With Your engines, fuel pumps remain and people would continue being screwed over by somebody.

You can argue the system using your engines will improve! With my engine the system doesn't have to improve <> it is replaced by a money-less system having no-cost car engine fuel. They have brought my engines to the front of the table because a correction like yours isn't enough <> Over-Correction is what's needed to bring us back up onto the highway.

This Galaxy Class Century demands a Galaxy Class Engine System =>

No Woody. This has been going on for over 100 years. Obviously, I can't go into the entire history, it would fill a book.

And that book would have a well known list of characters and organizations.
Some of those would include Henry Ford, John D. Rockefeller, J Paul Getty, GM, Dupont, the Women's Temperance League, This is only the latest round in Big Oil's fight to keep biofuels off the market. It even extends to a Constitutional Amendment (18th Amendment, Prohibition). By the time of its repeal however, leaded gasoline had been introduced(even though it was KNOWN even in 1920 that using lead in gasoline was highly toxic). But leaded gasoline reaped HUGE profits, not only for Big Oil, but for GM(also invested in petroleum---Kettering, GM president was an oil man), and Dupont(better living through chemistry-HA).

Henry Ford always remained convinced that ethanol was a better fuel. He even went as far building an ethanol production facility in Atchison KS in the 1930s to produce unleaded gasoline. It took over 50 years and the establishment of the EPA to get lead out of gasoline.

Even today, it still goes on. You will find a lot of press coverage about electric vehicles, and hardly any about biofuels(well, if you don't count negative press coverage concerning biofuels.) This is because Big Oil knows that electric vehicles will never be a viable option no matter what breakthrough discovery might come in batteries. How do they know this? Because electric battery and motor technology depends heavily on rare earth elements. They are called that because they are rare. The richest deposits in the world are in Mountain Pass mine in California, near Reno. Mountain Pass mine is currently shut down. Union Oil Company owns Mountain Pass mine. Union Oil is in the business of selling oil----not raw materials needed to make batteries and lightweight electric motors. But when the oil runs out---they already control the richest deposit of rare earth elements in the world. They have everything still set in place to control the market and set their price on what they are grooming to be the replacement for oil---electric. Never mind that electric vehicles still have serious disadvantages and are very expensive. Consumers will just have to take what they decide to give them----and that decision is made on the basis of what puts the fattest bottom line on their balance sheets---not what is good for consumers.

We have cars on the market today that are capable of being driven indefinitely completely petroleum free. They are biofuel/natural gas bi-fuel capable and can be driven indefinitely completely petroleum free. And they cost much less to run than petroleum. They are flexible, durable and do everything our current vehicles can. And they cost about the same.

Do you hear anything in the press about bi-fuel vehicles? No. Wonder why?

And why do you suppose I chose not to write a book? You did the job nicely for me. Thanks. As for why the News Media has suffered this castration of purpose is a good question but most basic of all answers would be they are owned by their advertisers, then they are owned of course by their Owners who have personally heavily invested in Crude Oil would be my guess. Many of the newspapers are probably having their employee's 401k plans invested in crude oil too, so if crude oil loses a lotta folks would take a serious financial hit.

Newspapers are too big too fail. Cable News is too big to fail also.

The future that should happen is being strangled like a partial birth abortion,

You are mostly correct. 5 companies own 98% of the news media in the US today.(that includes newspapers, television and radio stations)

They do not wish to antagonize their large advertisers by presenting opposing points of view for fear of losing advertising revenues. Many oil companies are conglomerates also. They have control or influence over products that would seem to the average person to have nothing to do at all with oil. You would have to be a government regulator with access to ownership and tax records to know for sure.

This is why bi-fuel engine vehicles can work. The oil industry has been able to manage to fend off bio-fuels for 100 years. Mostly because, in the early days, there were little or no environmental concerns, and gasoline was a waste product of oil refining----therefore it was extremely cheap. If they sold it for anything at all it was making more for them than pouring it into rivers and streams(which they had been doing). Today that us no longer true. So biofuels are back.

Biofuels, along with natural gas in combination means that consumers will have no problems with availability, use or cost. It will cost roughly the same to produce as what they have now----with a choice of fuels, liquid or natural gas, they will have no problems fueling no matter where they are, and they can drive on natural gas for about 1/2 the cost of gasoline. And-----they can use conventional petroleum fuels if necessary too.

Is it any wonder that Big Oil does not want people to have bi-fuel vehicles?

They do not want consumers to be completely free to choose whatever fuel they want to drive their cars on. It would be the death knell of Big Oil. It means, they would have to make their money the old fashioned way, they'd have to work for it.

All combustion fuels present an easy target to terrorists, when they're in transit from depot to delivery and hundreds of oil tankers on the nations rails. Then not to forget are all the fuel pipelines, which I am aware they add something to the fuel to make it less volatile while in the pipes.

My engine gets all the fuel it ever needs when it's built and they aren't volatile (unstable). The compressed air is just that => air, containing 79% nitrogen to temper the oxygen. It's amazing to me to discover that we could have engines "breathing" the same thing we breathe, and using the same water we require also.

I'm tired of living an umbilical cord life.

I imagine your engine systems would work great but it won't help ya when your ship passes Mars. My system works great in Outer Space as I explained once before in detail. But like you said it should be an open market let the best man win, and quite frankly I could see where not stopping at fuel pumps would upset a great many people after doing it their entire lives.

@gravity_man, I long everyday to see your engines become universal throughout the world. I have read up on your theories and they seem sound and make sense in many ways. So much technology is kept from us because they cannot figure out how to create a sustainable profit stream from it.

Sometimes profit kills innovation and that is the dirty little secret of Capitalism.

True. Capitalists need love too. // To lower my electric bill -after two recent rate hikes- I've decided to arrange my apartment so that only the master bedroom circuit stays on. I found out something truly amazing. When all circuits stopped getting electric current but the one I suddenly felt better.

I think the same thing will happen to everybody when we stop having combustion engines.
