The billboard campaign in Cincinnati is only one of ten going on nationwide this year and, while the current situation is unique, threats are not. Additionally, Atheist billboards have been vandalized recently in Colorado and Idaho. Shawn Jeffers, co-coordinator for Cin CoR, said, "Everything that has happened shows just how vital our message is. It proves our point, that bigotry against people who don't believe in a god is still very real in America. Only when we atheists, agnostics and humanists come together and go public about our views will people have a chance to learn that we too are part of the community and deserve respect... Hopefully this turn of events will cause more and more nontheistic people in Cincinnati to realize how necessary it is to get organized."

Death threats? What part of "Thou shalt not kill" do they not understand?
-
Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent...
-
How is that billboard even offensive?
-
So much for "coexisting".
-
Isn't it against all religions to kill others? Wow, people should practice what they preach a little better.
-
This is sad to hear. Christian extremism is just as dangerous and potentially violent as Muslim extremism. Or what about the homosexuals targeted by religious extremists? What happened to live and let live, love, acceptance? I'm sure it was on a billboard once, before someone threatened it.

God probably ordered the religious people to do this, don't blame them. blame god.
-
These billboards went up around last year during the holidays. I'm surprised it took this long for something to happen.

Atheists don't make death threats against Christians, they just patiently try to point out their tragic self deception.
Atheists must feel sorry for the faithful, the way anyone would take pity on another suffering from an inferior intellect and/or character.
Be brave; be strong; be an atheist. -
It is this kind of attitude that drives people to be atheists . Religious extremism is a mental illness and a threat to a decent society .
-
dude i live in cinci and saw this!
-
people tend to want to destroy what they fear, or fear to be true.
-
So we do have Christian Jihadist in America, no surprise there. And then they say that Atheists are acting militant in their rage against Theists. What a bunch of hypocrites.
-
Nothing like a little fear for what you do not under stand.
-
Its not offensive.

"Moral education, which ought never, in any circumstances, to be rational."
"And that," put in the Director sententiously, "that is the secret of happiness and virtue— liking what you’ve got to do. All conditioning aims at that: making people like their unescapable social destiny."
Quotes from Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley.
They seemed appropriate because the book is so prophetic in many regards. The marriage of delusional Theists with Corporatists will result in a fate worse than that described in 1984.

Death Threats really???,mighty christian,islamic,jewish......of ya!You're not in unless your scared of something they themselves don't understand.
-
I love this story. It is a wonderful example of how people who claim to believe in a God of all-encompassing love, compassion, and power are willing to kill anyone who dares to question their assumptions. A man or woman of true faith is not threatened by differing opinions, and a truly spiritual person would never send a death threat to a fellow human.
-
this just proves my point that religion and war go side by side...
-
This really doesn't surprise me, as I'm sure it doesn't for most of you.
