Mother of missing 5 yr old girl charged with human trafficking

Shaniya's father, Bradley Lockhart, told The Associated Press he raised his daughter for several years but last month decided to let her stay with her mother. He said Davis struggled financially over the years, but she recently obtained a job and her own place, so Lockhart decided to give her a chance to raise their daughter.

The mother of a 5-year-old girl who disappeared in North Carolina was charged Saturday with human trafficking and other offenses, though authorities said they still did not know the girl's whereabouts.

Antoinette Nicole Davis, the mother of Shaniya (shuh-'NY-uh) Davis, faces a child abuse charge involving prostitution as well as filing a false police report, according to a news release from the Fayetteville Police Department. The release did not say whether the charges were related to her daughter's disappearance. Telephone messages and an e-mail left for police were not immediately returned.

Shaniya's mother reported the girl missing Tuesday morning from a mobile home community in Fayetteville, and authorities began searching nearby wooded areas. The following day a man described as Davis' boyfriend was arrested in the kidnapping but later released.

And who said mothers do not harm their children?
    This is sick.

Women may be the best people to take care of children, in general, but it is a fact that many women are not cut out to be mothers.
Society puts strong pressure on young girls and women, men too, to become parents, when in fact they are not the "parenting" type.
Society needs to step back and let these people be who they are, not who someone else thinks they are.
If you become an unwilling parent, male or female, please have the heart to place that child up for adoption through legal means. There are many people out there who would love to give a child a home.

This is so disturbing, what is going on with these so called mothers. See this is why we should subsidize plan parenthood. There is going to be a hell of alot more of these stories are going to pop up.

My first thought was 'sold her for drug money'. Why did dad have her in the first place, most likely because mom wasn't able to care for her. What a shame, what a shame... poor child. I hope they find her. But you know she's had bad experiences already. This mom and the men involved need to be held accountable. Mom needs a long sentence.

"Women may be the best people to take care of children, in general"

Wow, to be honest, this ignores the ills of society today..... Children brought up only by their mothers have some of the most disturbing effects on society..... Overall, it takes two parents to raise a child adequately, and no they do not have to be "together" but must work together regardless for the well being of the children. Single parent households are not beneficial to children in any way when the one parent has to do all of the work and discipline......Add on also that this ideology is what caused this child to be in these circumstances in the first place....

Lets not forget that women are the main suppliers to the human traficking buisness.......

Planned parenthood works off of the same subsidies that are causing most of the destruction of families (SS Title IV) and have even been caught promoting underage children who are having sex with adults. They would rather push this activity rather than prevent it because it procures more funding via incentives....

She was given the chance to take care of her daughter. She took it and did this. We should not assume a women are the best to take care of children just as we should not assume all women are cut out to be mothers. And if a women is willing to sell her daughter into sexual slavery no amount of planned parenthood is going to change that.

There was no coercion for her to be a parent. The father had taken care of the child up until she was five when he gave her the opportunity to take care of the child. She took that opportunity and did this. Planned parenthood would not have changed this.

this story happen i the state i live in and is very personal to me because of the age of the child. it was luck that one of the people while carrying the child was caught on video--thank God for that. nothing on earth is bad enough for those involved including her low life mother.

After they find this little girl they need to give the father a gun and two bullets. These two are a waste of air and consumable resources.

I hope that this person is prosecuted, to the fullest extent of the law...Most parents would kill, in order to protect their children from all danger..

The video above, posted by ylin is from the local tv station in Fayetteville. There are links to several other articles and videos about this case. There's also a video of an tv interview with the father and aunt. Lots of information. Thanks, ylin.

This story reminds me of another "mother" who tried to sell her young child for $10.

  •

Today the police are looking for her body. I'm so discussed I want both the mother and this man in the Hotel video to be public ally executed! This is outragious. Why would the father trust the previously uninterested mother? Is he culpable in this whole ordeal. He made a life altering dicision for this child. These situations always test my faith in why God would allow this to happen to an innocent child..... why? why, dear Lord why?

Sad update to an already upsetting story : Five-year-old Shaniya Davis , whose mother is accused of selling her for sex, was found dead today . "We were hoping that someone could carry her home," said one searcher. "It's just sick."
