The word "Gay" wasn't originally used to describe things that are "lame" Ever seen the gay stereo type picture of a guy with blond hair, an earing, and a tank top? When you called something "gay" then it meant that the guy stereo type man, would use or wear whatever object was being called gay. Now people are just idiots and go "ugh, my laptop is being gay!" It's annoying.

Words get redefined all the time (see history) and will continue to in the future. Calling things or certain situations when they're unfavorable gay is sometimes the perfect adjective that hits it on the nose.

I am of the opinion that calling something gay because you think it sucks is not only inarticulate but should be considered, by any civilized person, an unacceptable thing to do whilst homophobia still exists. No-one would find it acceptable to call something "black" if they thought it was lame, and rightly so because unfortunately racism is still an issue in our culture. It is no different for gay people.
Have a little forthought as to the connotations of what you are saying. I am not an easily offended gay man but I do find this offensive. Please think before you talk, and use our language correctly.

This is a very silly thing for people to get upset about. Words change meaning overtime. Take the word gay for example, it used to mean fun/good, but now it means someone who is homo or boring/stupid.
I'm think it is gay that I can't say, "I had a gay time last night with my brother and his boyfriend" without people thinking I'm gay.
