Really, Japan? According to CNNGo Tokyo, the Commander-in-Chief has gotten his own verb, after it was passed around on a Kyoto University mailer and mentioned on Twitter. Once.
Apparently this sort of thing isn't unheard of. Back when President Bush (the first) went and visited Japan, he lost a tennis match to Emperor Hirohito and later that evening at a dinner party, he ブシュした (Bushu shita) -- did the Bush thing and vomited in public.
Of course, these words never really made it into the public's lexicon, as most people have never even heard the terms, especially college students, where the phrase "obamu" is supposed to be popular. Perhaps I should start using it in my daily conversations? Perhaps I can keep the word alive!

I've given Obama his own verb too, but good taste prevents me from sharing it in mixed company.
-
well he has done so much he sounds like a verb
-
Great Nettle,.......your knowledge is deep,....and for the most,...a pleasure to digest. ( But in the case of Bushisms,....unpalatable) I think the public was "Bushu shita-d" quite enough while he was in office.

That made me giggle

"Obamao" --the graphic superimposition of Obama's face on the body of Chairman Mao the Chinese government had gone so far as to ban the image by threatening to shut down vendors selling the popular T-shirts. Apparently, the government fears the image will offend the visiting president.

The Japanese love to make new slangs. My Japanese teacher often learns just as much as we do when the young student teacher comes over with her fresh verbs and nouns.

Bushu: v. To fuck up the planet beyond repair in every way possible.
The world was so fucked up after Bush's terms (still can't believe he was elected twice) that there was no possible way to fix anything in one term, even if the man elected was Jesus himself....
-
This is adorable. I will try to use it often.

Meanwhile Japanese bloggers picked up on the story, quoting material Sakovitch had quoted, but offering an important extra tidbit: None of them (nor their friends) had ever heard it in use. Not one. "I swear nobody uses this word," one blogger wrote.
