Poll: Wide majority of Americans do not like Sarah Palin

Say it ain't so!

Looks like the voters are going rogue.

According to new CBS News figures [PDF link], 38 percent of Americans have an unfavorable view of Sarah Palin. Meanwhile, 37 percent are not paying attention, saying they do not know enough to form an opinion.

Just 23 percent of those surveyed think highly of the former Alaska governor. Among Republicans, her favorability rating is even more surprising: only 52 percent. Among Democrats, that figure is predictably anemic, with only four percent giving her high marks.

The survey revealed that Palin's greatest support seems to come from white evangelical Christians, who would support a Palin 2012 presidential bid by a slim majority, 48-42 percent.

Overall, two out of three people surveyed said they do not want her to run for the presidency during the next election. Even a majority of Republicans -- 44-48 percent -- do not want a Palin candidacy in 2012.
Story continues below...

"Overall, 26 percent of Americans say she could be effective in the job," CBS reported.

Sarah Palin's book, "Going Rogue," goes on sale Tuesday.

How can anyone not like Sarah Palin? She is just like everyone's pleasant, open, next-door neighbor. She speaks her mind, is not afraid to utter controversial opinions, and is willing to endure ridicule to stand for her beliefs. She has a family that is as dysfunctional as any in America, has proven that a woman with ambition can succeed in a patriarchal society, and lives inside a marriage that does not conform to the dictates of hidebound social rules (she and her husband go for long periods of not seeing each other when their work takes them to different areas). Her extended family is supportive and helps her raise her children (It takes a village to raise a child), and she is now a successful author as well.

Sarah Palin is an American success story and is politically astute. To attempt to relegate her to the back bench through the use of ridicule or personal attack would be to play right into the hands of the neo-conservative vipers who wish to use her to gain power. Instead of attacking Sarah Palin, her political opponents would be better served by bringing to light the machinations of the Republican National Committee and the Republican Party, led by Michael Steele. It is those entities who are responsible for creating the hate-filled platform which asks heartland voters to scapegoat immigrants, demonize liberals, destroy public education, promote imperialism at the cost of domestic security, and take America back 100 years.

I disagree strongly with most of Sarah Palin's political views and vigorously oppose them when and where I can, but to attack her personally is a big political mistake and smacks of the kind of tactics that were used against Bill Clinton and John Kerry. Plus, Sarah has the best looking legs in modern American political life. God, I love those legs and sparkling eyes!

I don't think she would make a pleasant mother in law so I have to give her the thumbs down.

She should not be relevant enough to have polls on her popularity.
She may be a milf but she has the IQ of a pillowcase and the ethics of a snake. Enough already.

38% have a bad opinion of her? Hey! That's Obama-like numbers! She could be president!

Palin is an embarrassing joke. God, to think she actually had a chance at being vice president. The world was laughing at us, and breathed a collective sigh of relief with a majority of Americans when Obama was elected. Obama's favorability numbers are consistently above 50 if you are reading anything besides right wing hack bullshit.

Her book is a best seller. That speaks differently than this article. Polls are so crack worthy sometimes.

Where's the top story showing how Obama's numbers are spiraling?

    Yeah...

If one looks at the methodology of the study, one will find that the results are not generalizable to the American population. The sample size is too small and the respondents are not representative of the breakdown along political lines of the country.

Now I'm convinced. I'm registering Republican so that I can have Sarah Palin as my nominee for 2012.

    Palin/Dobbs 2012.

For someone who is suposedly so "irrelevant" and "unliked," the mainstream media sure does give her a lot of attention with their attempted discrediting of her. Seems like the left would figure out that personal attacks on their political opponents does nothing but boost the support for those people. Disagree? See Beck, Limbaugh, Palin, etc.

The posts on this site are pathetic. "Legalize weed, Beck's dumb, Palin's and idiot, Limbaugh is fat..." All the while conservatives are becoming stronger. Maybe you should focus on what your party is doing right rather than devoting so much time to what the other is doing wrong.

Sarah Palin is what this country needs. When I think about what we got in the election last November versus what we count have I shake my head at the stupidity of the voters who put the Kenyan in there.
The only problem with Palin is that she is a strong, intelligent, conservative, effective woman. This combination does not work in the liberal world unless the woman sticks to the liberal party line. Sexist libs don't seem to like the Palins of the world. They would rather worship the vapid Pelosi model. Ptitful.
    go Sarah. Bury your opponents.

That's just liberal media bias. It has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that she's an idiot, or that she's a racist, or that she's a gun-toting redneck who stepped too far north. And it certainly has nothing to do with the fact that her state was completely corrupted by her tenure in office. Nope, it's all liberal bias. Because liberals hate women. If she wasn't a conservative, she might have been president by now. But it's all those liberal haters fault, because they like picking on women.

Why are left wing pablum pucking democrates so afraid of this lady? I am a registered republican who would vote for any candidate (dem, rep, or ind) that I thought would do a good job in office! As far as Gov. Sarah Palin goes I am willing to give this rough around the edges future candidate for president a chance. To me she is a down to earth mother who deals with the same issues we all do as a family. She cant be any worse than this person now in office who will probably help create the largest deficit this country has ever seen and our children and grandchildren will be repaying for decades. Now I am not saying that GW did the greatest job either. But to disrespect the Govenor of Alaska and her family the way the media has is... well a great tragedy for this country. And the world is watching and shaking their heads. Give Sarah a chance!!!!!!!!
