Police report calls it 'very, very brief' stun to get her into patrol car

"OZARK, Ark. - Ozark Police Chief Jim Noggle says one of his officers used a Taser on a 10-year-old girl who was combative when the officer tried to get the girl into a patrol car to be taken to a youth shelter.

Noggle said Tuesday that officer Dustin Bradshaw went to the girl's home after her mother called police woman called police.

According to a report filed by Bradshaw on Thursday, the officer found the girl on the floor of the house screaming and crying. She refused to follow her mother's instructions and the mother told Bradshaw to use his Taser.

Bradshaw carried the girl to the living room and told her she was going to jail, according to the report. The girl was violently kicking, the report said, and struck Bradshaw in the groin with her legs and feet.

The report said Bradshaw administered a "very, very brief" stun with the Taser, put the girl in handcuffs and carried her to his patrol car. She was taken to the Western Arkansas Youth Shelter in Cecil."

Do cops get off tasering children? And for the mom to condone this, allegedly?

    • ARE WE TREATED AS INSECTS ?
      http://current.com/items/90030349_are-we-treated-as-insects.htm

"A society whose citizens refuse to see and investigate the facts, who refuse to believe that their government and their media will routinely lie to them and fabricate a reality contrary to verifiable facts, is a society that chooses and deserves the Police State Dictatorship it's going to get." - Ian Williams Goddard

A culture that cannot distinguish between reality and illusion dies. And we are dying now. We will either wake from our state of induced childishness, one where trivia and gossip pass for news and information, one where our goal is not justice but an elusive and unattainable happiness, to confront the stark limitations before us, or we will continue our headlong retreat into fantasy. - Chris Hedges * Empire of Illusion / The End of Literacy and the Triumph of Spectacle

    • Everyone here just files in line behind the "oh, aren't the cops such baaaaad people" routine. Ya'll make me puke.

An uncontrollable and screaming child. How often haven't you wanted to tazer the fucking raging brat next to you in line at a department store or banging the back of your seat at a movie theater? Huh? Be honest. The kid is likely mentally unstable and needs to see council (as do her parents). Cops are always stuck in the middle.

You people are morons if you think the cop had any other recourse than to tazz the little monster. If he had grabbed her in any way and injured her, Mom would sue the shit out of the PD. Hell, a bouncer can't even touch a drunk patron these days. Work the beat with your local patrolman for a year and come back with your flippant comments then. I dare you.

It's easy to pass judgment from the comfort of your computer screen, but flick the Cheetos off your belly, waddle into the bathroom (if you still can) and take a good, hard look in the mirror.

PS-Ozark, Arkansas? Really? Do you have any notion what kind of folks live there? "They took our jobs!" "Tey tok ur grrbs!"

    • We live in a "police state". It is probably best the children learn that fact quickly and accept it.(Sarcasm)

What if the child had died? Your better off calling the SPCA than the police and having that officer show up. What was the problem with the mother? Where was the father?

Its not going to get any better...

    • .... okay how many times have cops used tasers in innapropriate situations now????... i lost count... this is just another reason why restrictions should be put on tasers!! i dont care what kind but if the cop was having trouble with a 10 year old without having to use a taser then how is he going to deal with an adult? If our police force becomes reliant on tasers to do there job then there must be something wrong.......

    • This is most bizarre, and it's two words strict accountability, on the police officer. How would have a police officer handled such a scenario in the past before such equipment was used commonly used in the line of duty?

    • Obviously, this is wrong and the policeman and mother should be brought up on charges.

What's funny about most of these comments is that you agree with me on this issue but when it comes to abortion you are in favor of murdering unborn babies. Seems like you have a double standard in the treatment of a child and that of an unborn child.

    • WTF? The mother told the cop to use the taser? That's wrong of her to want her child to get tased and why did the stupid cop listen to her? It seems like everytime I comment on a story I leave saying WTF is wrong with our country?!

    • I hate the police and know about the BART incident and all these fucking pigs doing all the fucked up things they do. I swear there will be one day when they shoot a little kid infront of his parents and the family gets their guns out and kills the cops. All hell will break loose then, BUT I really think that this little brat deserved it. Be real, if the mother can't control her own kid then the kid is a little brat and needs their ass whooped. The mom shouldn't have called the police for some stupid thing like this. If she was a responsible mother she would beat that little girl's ass until she straightened up. How bad of a parent do you have to be to have the police correct your kids?

    • Their can be no justification for tasering an unarmed 10 year old.

That said the real responsibility here lies with the Mother.

There is something very wrong in that household if at the age of 10 this girl is already deeply enough engaged in the juvenile justice system that police were taking her to a youth facility. The term youth shelter is of course just a nice way of saying juvenile detention center.

The father must not be involved in the girls life in any positive way and I would venture a guess that mom is a whack job of some kind.

My heart goes out to this young, confused, emotionally stunted little girl and I hope that somehow she gets some positive guidance in her life and she find some peace and happiness, but the odds for her at this point are not good.

A very sad story all the way around.

    • There is a tendency for cops to be authority-freak types. They take anything to be an insult to their authority, which must be dealt with a taser shot...

Not all cops are like this but there is certainly a big number of them that are.

    • I would say that the cop should have given the taser to the mother, but that would have probably gotten him in even more trouble since she hasn't had any training.

Clearly this mother daughter combo has some serious issues which no taser, judge, or police officer will be able to solve. The mother needs to step in and do what is needed to control her child.

    • I would like to give the officers the benefit of a doubt and assign this to ignorance and not malicious intent. I think police officers need to be trained in the appropriate use of tasers. I don't believe most officers fully realize how dangerous they are. It reminds me of demonstrators being shot with smoke canisters and wooden shotgun bullets.

    • I knew this was in america when just seeing the headline, not that i'm trying to say American police are more inhuman than the british (they are both as bad as eachother) i just had a feeling this was in the US, after watching so many video's on youtube of the police there beating people up.
and i agree with biggranny, it seems if any of these filth come into contact with someone showing resistance to their power ego complex they'll get whatever weapon out that they can , regardless of age and gender, they're exactly the same as our Army, they need to feel bigger and if they dont they need big weapons to attack.

well if they punish the cop, they need to charge the mom with child abuse.

although I don't understand why a 10 year old girl couldn't be restrained and cuffed, I have no problem with the tasing of the brat.

      Taze away, BRO!

    • Wait a minute Ya'll. Let's not be too quick to pass judgementationals on this cop. You must first realize that the 10 year olds in Arkansas can be HUGE! And man, let me tell you what, they can be rowdy as hell when they're all hopped-up on sugar and red dye. This little miss sunshine was probably down to her last little bit of Halloween candy, just Smarties and Dum Dums probably.

If you can't read the sarcasm in this post, you're probably a cop. Go figure out a way to kick yourself in the nuts for me.

    • She is 10 fucking years old... Who the hell cares if she got a crotch shot in on him? Lest she shattered a ball, which I seriously doubt, the officer will have no permanent damage done. Taser's, on the other hand, leave electrical burns and potentially scars.

Also, unless this guy is a complete wuss, how would he not be able to just wrestle the girl to the ground to handcuff her? She's not some freak of a ten year old who outweighs him and can bench her own body weight is she?
