US Catholic Bishops are pushing a toxic agenda that threatens the body politic. Catholic rejection of secular policy threatens health care reform for the nation and social services in Washington DC.

    • Really, so abortion is a necessary medical procedure so, people can also use it public healthcare for plastic surgery or so that hypochondriacs can get a different another scan every week?

PS I realize that there are extenuating circumstances such as rape of a the possibly death of the mother at child birth these cases are so few that they could get special approval by a doctor to be covered under the insurance

    • Fine, if the church wants to act lke a political action committee they should lose their tax exempt status.

Addtionally it's morally grotesque for the church, whose members protected pedophile priests by shunting them from one parish to another, to have an opinion on any of these kinds of issues. Who the hell are they to try to dictate policy when they are so twisted and corrupt? They have been and will ALWAYS be an impediment to mans progress.

    • How does not allowing public funds that pay for something nearly 50% of Americans find as uncounciousable?? They support the rest of the healthcare bill which is more than most groups do.

    • PS. The recent declaration is written by a Princeton University jurisprudence professor who is also a Catholic Rev.
At any rate, he claims that "the conscience clauses and religious exemptions were insufficient, saying, 'The dangers to religious liberty are very real.'”

Let's get some real information in the debate here.

    • I guess they're not content with raping kids anymore. In these tough economic times, you need to diversify to stay in the game.

    • Using religion to push your own close minded opinions on others. Man, I feel bad for the Americans who have to deal with the brainwashed

Some people say that if a woman is pregnant, it is her fault and that she should be forced to carry the baby to term. What happens if they do not have the resources to take care of them selves, let alone a child? Is it okay to cause suffering the the child in order to teach the mother a lesson?

We could put the child in the foster care program. How bout that? Traumatize them immeadietly after birth We've all heard stories of the horrors of the foster care system. When these kids reach 18, they are thrown onto the streets to fend for themselves.

Hypochondriacs can go purchase birth control and pregnancy tests every day if they so desire, but their faults should not overshadow the suffering of the child

so glad that you are thinking about the children, instead of giving them a chance to live we will kill them. What about adoption? why is that not an option.

Wait, I get where you are coming from if you kill the kid before he is born he won't
cost any money down the road. Right?

An embryo is not a child. In the 16th century, Pope Gregory XIV personally believed that embryos less than 16 weeks are not children. Aristotle claimed 40 days.

Adoption is certainly an option. We allow the majority of them to rot in orphanages and subject them to psychological trauma while the lucky few are carried out on the red carpet. Could YOU imagine 18 years of watching the children around you get new parents and a chance at life while you are cast away every time? What would that do to your mental health?

This has nothing to do with money, although some Americans do seem to care about nothing other than the profits of their health companies. Have we all completely lost focus of the people?

I would rather PREVENT the suffering of a child rather than see ANOTHER baby left on the streets.
