    • Why were at it, let's tell them to end the takeover of our freedoms and to end their plans to break our country and reduce it to the status of 3rd world poverty.

    • Since Obama has shown NO concern for our men and women fighting it is not a bad idea to bring the troops home. More have killed, commit suicide within the past 10 months than any other time during these wars. We can only hope that we do not get attacked before 2012 to give us a real chance to elect a leader and not an appologists.

      He is a horrible Comander-In-Chief.

Prez is BHO in the great USA but I still think he is doing a horrible job concerning our troops.

He has now had the request for more 40k more troops on his desk for 90 days and what are we told he is "almost ready" to make a decision. Leaders make decisions and he is wavering.

If he wants to bring the troops home...fine....but he needs to make a decision and STOP playing political games with our troops.

If ADD keeps you voicing your opinion and "banging the gong" well sobeit then. Keep on banging that gong and sounding the alarm. It does amaze me that more of the younger folks dont get more upset. Guys like us are a little to old for a draft but many here on Current are Ripe for the pickin's. They really need to take a stand while they still have both legs to do it on.

    • I think a lot of the problem is that a lot of people don't know what to think about the war in Afghanistan. We are told that if the United States leaves the country will turn into a "hot-bed of terror" as they like to say. If you're not quite sure what is going on in the situation it is hard to stand up and say if you are for it or against it.

And as far as the draft goes, that scenario is just one of those things that is unimaginable to myself and most other people under the age of 30 so it's hard to get people riled up about that situation too.

You are probably right inspirationseeker, history to most people is boring. I watched a really good show last night on PBS with Bill Moyers and it was full of recorded clips of Johnson's conversations during the sixties and when the war was escalated over and over again the draft went up 17,000 a month to 30,000 a month during this time and talking about how the public would react. It was truly a hard time in our country's history and getting troop levels up so high the draft was the only way too sustain this kind of action. Lets hope your generation gets active monday and gets involved because it will be you guys that have to pay the price for another military blunder.

    • Good posting...I pray that Obama makes the right decision, by ending the war in Afghanistan immediately...This is a needless war that is depleting our economy, and killing our children. I plan to call Monday, and I hope that everybody participates, and call The White House.

Great nanac, I hope you do and millions other do as well. Tell the White House to stop this military madness. We can get our oil and other energy needs right here in our country and it will create millions of new worthwhile jobs.

    • I personally think bringing the draft back is a good way for all of society to get involved in our military adventures or keeping the public poor so the only jobs out there are military. WOW what a great idea a jobs program!

    • A great article with the White House number for you, and other people to contact.
If we don't act soon the draft will come back too keep this military madness up. And for you that were not around during the sixties and early seventies a military draft is like a lottery and your birthdate will be assigned to a ping pong ball and 365 ping pong balls will be dropped into a fish bowl and ping pong balls will be pulled out one at a time and lucky you if your of age 18 to 27 and not in college holding down a B average or better you win a free trip too Afghanistan or Iraq.
