For an Indian, who is also a school teacher, Thanksgiving was never an easy holiday for me to deal with in class. I sometimes have felt like I learned too much about "the Pilgrims and the Indians." Every year I have been faced with the professional and moral dilemma of just how to be honest and informative with my children at Thanksgiving without passing on historical distortions, and racial and cultural stereotypes. The problem is that part of what you and I learned in our own childhood about the "Pilgrims" and "Squanto" and the "First Thanksgiving" is a mixture of both history and myth. But the THEME of Thanksgiving has truth and integrity far above and beyond what we and our forebearers have made of it. Thanksgiving is a bigger concept than just the story of the founding of the Plymouth Plantation. So what do we teach to our children? We usually pass on unquestioned what we all received in our own childhood classrooms. I have come to know both the truths and the myths about our "First Thanksgiving," and I feel we need to try to reach beyond the myths to some degree of historic truth. This text is an attempt to do this.-

The Thanksgiving meal, that's when Americans blow out the controls, their appestat that tells them they're full, stop eating. The sphincter muscle is also blown out by the 2nd plate of food, stretched out so that from then on when a person eats a meal it passes through the stomach w/out proper digesting being done... plus then the stomach begins screaming its empty, need more food.
Thanksgiving is the beginning of Obesity.
Holidays in general including especially Christmas are awful for anyone who is bipolar. Holidays cause an "emotional roller coaster effect". It starts with children getting high from sugar at Halloween, then Thanksgiving comes and the roller coaster is moving on down the tracks. When you hit Christmas the spiritual added to the feasting is hitting crescendo pitch.
People who have never had bipolar will laugh at the above statements. Any decent psychologist would back me up, but I don't require anyone backing me up because I am bipolar. I've had a lifetime to do my own research and analysis and find out what works, what will help bipolars level out their ups & their plummeting. Anyone having the bipolar gene should say Goodbye to all holidays.
In the winter time when there's less sunlight is when S.A.D. kicks in (Seasonal Affective Disorder)... so when people exit out of the string of holidays into the least sunlight time of the whole year many suicides occur. In fact, following Christmas is traditionally when the most suicides happen.
Holidays are bad medicine. As far as the Bible goes there's only one command given a true Bible-based Christian that they remember Christ's Passover-like sacrifice once a year, not every blooming day or week. That trifles it. Holidays, if you absolutely have ta have em, should be in the summertime when the extra sunlight prevents them from causing spikes in mental illness followed by suicide.
That would be the more intelligent choice.

....A Post-Thanksgiving Day Prayer =>
Lord, lord, thank you for the blessings you showered over our great nation and especially the great win of slaughtering our enemies the Indians {ugh} who are after all stupid heathen savages who can only run 100 miles a day. We thank you for them for all the times their son warriors saved our American bacon (we so love) and great flag during World War II and even the Korean conflict also so we would never have to treat them correctly, forever. Amen.
p.s. Thank you of bountiful Father for your gift to us of their land that we have now found to be stuffed full of shale oil across thine beautiful plains (not theirs).

Interesting thought. To the victors go the spoils. So every year throw a big party, lots of food celebrating your great victory. It actually makes perfect sense. For one group to beat down an entire continent actually is a great (terrifically large) victory. And of course you would, being religious and all, assign your deity with some responsibility for helping make sure the battles went in your favor.
We still do that now right?
And this deity, He helped you win over the heathenous Vietnamese oops Indians for your children too. As long as it gets the "did it for the children" stamp it has to be okay. Hmm, sounds a bit like Dick Cheney, Abu Ghraib logic & reasons to make waterboarding legal.
In the 1800's the military was ecstatic over the Gatling gun. About a year ago the US rolled out a railgun that fires projectiles magnetically at the rate of a million a minute. To many people around the world and even in the US all white people look like Dick Cheney and his rather simpleton wife who pretty much seems to parrot whatever he says as being the Gospel truth. How utterly religious of her. hehehe She's old school.
Just kind of ride yer little ships and tanks all over the world pointing your pistolas at everybody. Hell yeah, Pass the turkey. See can't we kill 300,000 before year's end, that'll teach em to take 3,000 of our'n. Oh, yes, more stuffing pleez, and a little of the brown there, uhm gravy.
And the band played on.

Well, it is a holiday that is celebrated by gluttony and that is fairly appropriate. Since I found out what crimes of humanity actually occurred in the seizing of this country, I never have a thanksgiving where I do not think of the civilizations that were lost. I mourn the loss.

I don't know much about Germany but when I grew up in 1950's Virginia Blacks were beginning to gain a little acceptance "as long as they stayed in their place" you know. Many times discrimination (root: nation?) is exceedingly subtle. Take this other Current topic, on the surface it does indeed appear to be giving thanks to the peoples who came before us => http://current.com/items/91542588_thanking-indigenous-peoples-for-the-food-we-ea...
But if you watch the video all the natives shown are Stone Age dress and some dancing nude, which of course to us pegs them as being "below us". I've been writing about my engines for over 6 years now -Present-Day- and not one person has said thanks to me. A few have said some words of encouragement, mostly women posters because they knew how much they were needed, so in the encouraging words was their thanks.
But men? It would break a modern day man's face to tell another man thanks like me, a man who did not learn Physics in their "accepted" way, schools of higher learning. I read a college book my Dad brought home from the War when he was stationed in Juneau Alaska, and one summer I read half of it. I was 13 years old and learned all I needed to know.
And because I violated their rule of learning I got locked out. Discrimination can be very subtle. Saying thanks to someone below your station while they're standing their in your presence takes something a lot of people nowadays just can't muster. That being said, I am aware the scientific community has been holding back MANY engines from mankind they just want things to get real bad on purpose, to see if God will act.
Well, God did act. He saved my life many times when others died. I don't know what else to say when we're faced with these levels of blindness and/or purposeful withholding of great inventions. I think they wanted to see if they'd break me down making a fool of myself trying to :"save planet earth" and then they would swoop in with better engines.
A fine plan, except they don't have better than what I have. I can sit on the rest of my engines and watch Armageddon along with em and we can all wait for God to save us. I've been saved many times already so I don't need Him to prove His power to me, but apparently they do.
Good luck. It doesn't work that way. You have Faith first, then ya get saved.

Whew. I was shielded from knowing Indian ways. Mom and her 8 sisters wanted all us children to have a chance in the big world. People back then also wouldn't tell children they were adopted. I look at it as a kind of madness where people think they can give their children a new heritage instead of the one they had. I think they were somewhat helped along to invent a new Past by Sigmund Freud's new psychology.
Dad told me though. He said son, take a real good look at Grandma Sebina Beggs. She was maybe 64 when I was born but her long black hair reached past her knees and she seldom talked much English. I took what Dad told me with a grain of salt though because he drank right much. About 1994 I decided to finally accept he was right. It helped explain why so many "real" White people seemed to fear me.
I think they inherently sensed my blood but they saw my clear blue eyes and blond hair and the combination confused them, so all they could do was bust me down any chance they got. It's like an anger they might have if they saw a Black man who was white on the outside having their features... so it is understandable.
When Mom hid my heritage she put me at a disadvantage ignorance. After a lifetime of getting crapped on I don't celebrate holidays with them nor do I go out of my way to fit in. Trying to put a square peg in somebody else's round hole only brings disrespect because then they see you as a sell out to your own heritage.
Since making my decision I've had some rough times because it didn't get any better, but then I was Blessed to understand how to make an engine run on air+water (liquid air + steam) that Honors the Creation, produces no pollutants at all and will generate 1100% the horses of a combustion engine. Neither the H2O nor the air is destroyed or harmed in any way.
So when Whitey kicked me out they made a poor choice. I have the "NavCom", engines that will produce non-polluting thrust for flying cars and space travel. If that's the game they want to play then that's the game then. Suffer, we all suffer the continuing effects of race and religious discrimination.
But the Hopi knew I was coming. They were looking for a White Buffalo. I'm 75% White and Native American 25%, or more due to a gene malfunction factored in and large at 270 pounds = White Buffalo.
It's my opinion the war against Indians is still on. The NA tribes had prophecies about a returning to respect for the air and water. My engine does that. My other engines also do that => they all give praise to our Creator by their design, and modern American society has been fighting that respect. They want everybody to rewrite history, burn the Bibles and religious thought disappear forever so they can "move on".
My car engine is a mechanical heart turbine, works like a heart by having flaps on the pistons to keep a fluid pumping through from all the cylinders firing at the exact same time. Like the heart of a deer, fast, like the heart of a bear, powerful and strong, yet never does any combustion take place only explosions. It is, point of fact, a Living Engine that never quits and never gives up.
