The new research may help explain why large galaxies tend to have super-massive black holes at their cores.Astronomers have long wanted an answer to the chicken-and-egg question of what comes first, a super-massive black hole or the stars surrounding it.
A new observation of a far away object five billion light years from Earth may now help to solve the riddle.

The universe is a highly advanced cosmic recycling system that creates and destroys life in a perpetual cycle.

Who didn't already know that??? I knew this in 2005 when they said that every galaxy has a supermassive black hole at it's center.
It also became apparent after a hallucinogenic cactus trip. Oops...

Personally I believe black holes are the actual creators of universes, when a star goes into supernova or hypernova and collapses forming a black hole i think the force is so massive it tears a hole in space-time and creates a new universe. Imagine the black hole like a vacuum and that everything it pulls in from one universe (sucking in dirt) it spits out in another universe (into the vacuum bag). Just a simple theory without any mathematical calculations but it seems plausible to me. If this is true though than all galaxies around black holes will eventually be sucked into the black hole and reborn into another universe to form another galaxy out of a fiery rebirth. Kinda like a phoenix.

same idea kinda helps, we all look up don't we. comsmic radiation, or star dust love. loves have a cosmic birth and be the witness of a star.. planet, how hard we bouy towards our plite. computers and aug color. snow is abundance of co[m/s]ic activity. lets really alter the aurora's. give me some of that snow claud blanket. the over under. tropics too timid to be thunder the sky of silk. too woven, we're more like a berlin type climate.. we we fenced in. berlin was once surrpounded by water.

i know little to nothing about space or astronomy, but everything being discovered lately is just so FASCINATING.

Was it Amy Mainzer that was talking about a supermassive black hole in the center of our galaxy? Neat stuff, for true.

An observation of an object that is five billion light years away from earth... that on it's own is amazing, but to actually analyze and draw reasonable assumptions to help understand how galaxies are formed, now that's intelligent and impressive.

So, do quasars form from black holes, or do they turn into black holes?
And how exactly do quasars get made? I remember black holes are made from superstars much larger than our own suns...

CalPal:
Quasars are explosions from black holes that are intense enough to emit radiation on the outer limits, or event horizon, of the black hole. Imagine a cup of tea freshly stirred when you stop stirring it the white froth on the top floats to the edge but the inner center of the cup remains black from the tea, a quasar is the energy emitted from the black hole that is far enough away from the center that we can see it visibly. So technically a quasar is just the energy pulses emitted from a black hole.
