Anyone want to guess next years best teams? Here are mine.
Big Ten- Ohio State- Ohio State comes off with a top five ranking after their victory over Oregon in the Rose Bowl. I think they will get things together with Terrell Pryor returning and their shut down defense. Defense wins championships and I'm not sure the rest of the Big Ten is consistent enough to deny Ohio State another conference title. (Sorry Michigan fans).
Big 12- Nebraska/Oklahoma- Oklahoma is a better choice for the Big 12 South because I think they have a better replacement in Landry Jones for QB than Texas does with Gilbert. And Nebraska's absolutely stunning defense is pretty much one of the best, if not THE BEST in the country, so I see them back in the mix.
Pac-10- USC/Oregon- USC should always be a perennial favorite to win the Pac-10 given that they won 7 of the last 8 conference titles. Oregon is also here for the way their team dominated USC 47-20 and won the Pac-10 this year. This one was one of the harder ones to call.
ACC- It is difficult for me to call this one because I am a University of Miami fan. Virginia Tech will be good as usual, but they will lose 6 starters on defense, so if anything can be a big question mark it will be VT's defense. Will Georgia Tech build on what it did this season? Personally I don't think so. As more and more teams are exposed to the Spread Option offense of Paul Johnson it will work less and less. FSU is also a good pick for the Atlantic side of the conference which is rather weak. With a big recruiting class Jimbo Fisher might have them in the ACCCG next year. Finally, there is Miami.
Big East- Pittsburgh- Cincinnati will be losing its star coach and I expect the program to go the way of Louisville; a once great team turned into a bad one. Pittsburgh seemed to be just short of the Big East title this year. 2010 will be their year.
SEC- Alabama/Florida- Once again I expect Nick Saban to land the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship. I'm not buying the talk that Florida will be nothing without Tebow or Urban Meyer. They may not be the 2009 team, but they'll be good nonetheless, and I still don't see anyone in the SEC east challenging them.
God, I love college football. This season just ended and I can't wait for the next. GO CANES!

I would have enjoyed the game much more if McCoy hadn't gone out. Garrett Gilbert put up a hell of a comeback, but it was clear he wasn't the real McCoy...
I would say the victory is a little tainted. The game sucked without McCoy.
But I'm fine with Alabama winning. I will be forever grateful to them for the image of crying Tebow that they provided me during Alabama's 32-13 whupping of Florida.

Once again the SEC proves it is the best conference. We dominate bishopobispo. Don't hate because our D's can take out a C rated starter QB. Try playing the big boy's game; the SEC.

I hate when SEC fans talk about the SEC being the best. The only fans that constantly talk smack about the SEC are fans whose teams suck and thus must give up rooting for their teams and those root for their conference...
Texas lost because McCoy was out. And for all its greatness, the SEC lost more than its share of games this bowl season. Heck... even the ACC had a winning record against the SEC this season.
Thats without mentioning the weak ass OOC schedules of most of the SEC teams. Florida had 8 home games, yes, EIGHT home games my friend. Talk about easy. I would have loved to see some SEC teams play teams like Ohio State or USC or even Texas during the regular season. But they don't.

They should go ahead and give the BCS title to the winner of the SEC next year.

Damn you, SEC. Damn you. The Mighty Big XII will rise to the top once again.
It would have been great if Texas would have won the game (which they almost did regardless of that deceptive score). This way, they could have claimed to have beaten 'bama using their b-squad.
If you're playing with a new center and a true freshmen as a QB and you almost pull off a comeback within the last three minutes of the game, that deserves some respect.
Next year will be yours Texas or Oklahoma (or by post-apocalypse odds... Mizzou).
But, let's go Tigers!
