Check out this amazing metal foam developed at NC State by engineering professor Afsaneh Rabiei. Her metal foam will save lives and improve knee and hip replacements. The material is as light as aluminum and stronger than steel. She is working the US military to develop better body armor and reinforcing armored vehicles. The material can make a car bumper dampen impact such that a 25 mph crash would feel like a 5 mph crash to the driver. Go NC State!
