Danielle Polanco: Ninja Warrior

Every generation there’s a quintessential individual that transcends societies mediocrity and not only thinks outside of “the box” but also reformats how the box is constructed. Like Michael Jackson is the eternal King of Pop and the archetype of the ultimate entertainer, Danielle Polanco is the epitome of an ideal dancer. she embodies dance with her ambition, versatility, and achievements.
Hailing from the Bronx, NY Danielle, currently 24, demonstrated passion for dance at an early age; she trained in ballet, jazz, and tap, at the approximate age of five and developed classical technique. She attended The Professional Performing Arts High School in New York, NY for her secondary education. Growing up in an urban environment she also indulged in street dancing and acquired a more unrefined technique, free styling. Mastering the techniques of vast training Polanco has advanced her agilities into her own unprecedented swagger. By being able to successfully coalesce such distinct styles of dancing, Danielle exudes versatility without effort.
As a prominent entity in the underground scene she also has immense mainstream appeal. At such a young age Danielle has an exquisite resume; having first been seen in 2004 as the leading female dance figure in Omarion’s Touch video, she has also danced for Amerie, Beyonce, Usher, and other ideal artists as her career continues to progress expansively. She has worked with great choreographers, Tweetie (MTV’s Dances from the Hood) and Jamaica (Choreographer, Ciara Promise video) just to name a few, appeared in movies, most commonly known are the movies Idle wild (2006) and Step Up 2: The Streets (2008), and performed in the Broadway musical West Side Story as Consuela. Her work also includes doing Ipod commercials and performance shows for artist on BET and other networks. When it comes to dance Danielle has an omnipresence.
To the professional world she is Danielle Polanco, but to her Ninja Family she is Danni Ninja, an overzealous member of the House Of Ninja who remains loyal to her roots and still participates and competes in the underground culture of the ballroom scene. Being heavily influenced by her late house mother Willie Ninja, Danielle dominantly walks the Performance Vogue category, and she also teaches runway/performance vogue classes on scheduled dates. Danielle is known for executing her stunts and moves with flexibility, strength, and femininity; she is not easily intimidated by her competition and battles with heart and passion. With her vogue career she also indulges in other forms of dance such as pop/lock, whack, modern, etc, needless to say Danielle is a force to be reckoned with.
Although she has been working for nearly six years and has mainstream notoriety she has not yet become a household name. Danielle has only began to build the foundation of her dance empire. An enthusiastic dancer can only anticipate and be amazed by the work that she will reveal in the future. As a personal and sincere inspiration , she continues to influence up and coming dancers, and challenges the creativity of those who doubt her as a performer. She is creating a legacy and will leave an impression in the dance culture that will reverberate for decades, possibly centuries, with her vehement dedication, expansive style, and remarkable accomplishments.
