It was not a banner day for civil rights and democratic freedoms at the G20 summit in Toronto this weekend.
While covering a summit protest rally, a 26-year-old freelance reporter Jesse Rosenfeld was set upon by a squad of Metro Toronto's finest after they declared his press credentials were bogus and took exception to his claims that he was a legitimate journalist.
So the officers punched him in the stomach, kicked him to the curb and carted him away in restraints.
Twenty-four hours later the reporter was still in custody as his frantic parents tried to locate him. Oh yeah, he's asthmatic and has only one kidney.
Too bad for the coppers that they did all this in front of a TV Ontario news anchor who was tweeting a blow-by-blow account of the assault to his Twitter account!
Contacted by media, Metro Toronto police said the reporter can "file a complaint".

It never fails to amaze me the lengths police will go to protect governments instead of people. Do the police never question themselves why these people are protesting? or why these politicians they try so hard to protect need such protection in the first place?? I wonder what would happen in a G20 or Bilderberg meeting protest if the police were not there, ofcourse there would be anarchy, but then maybe the good people (those who research the truth of the world and get off their bottoms to do something) would be able to reach these disgusting politicians and rip them apart.
