Who’ll win the Mercury Prize?
No other music award causes quite as much debate as the Mercury Prize so expect plenty of discussion around who should walk away with the trophy and the £20,000 windfall at tonight’s ceremony.
This year’s nominees include Anna Calvi, Adele, Katy B, PJ Harvey and Elbow. Though previous winner Antony Hegarty once stated that the Mercury Prize is like a contest between ‘an orange, a spaceship, a potted plant and a spoon,’ there’s still a lot to gain for the winner in terms of profile and sales.
