NYT: Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani on Tuesday offered a consumer-oriented solution to the nation's health care woes that relies on giving individuals tax credits to purchase private insurance.

    • This approach is nonsense. If you gave someone on minimum wage all the tax back that they would pay they still couldn't afford to pay for a basic, catastrophic plan for a family of 4. They also couldn't afford the co-pays or the medicine.
      Giuliani seems to think that since he survived prostate cancer due to our "built for the rich" medical system that it's a great system and a lot better than a social system like the one in the UK. It isn't. How many people with prostate cancer but without health insurance in the US eventually die? Since we have no stats on that I guess Mr Giuliani would say the working poor just don't get prostate cancer.
      Get real. Universal coverage is the only way to fix it.
