It is sad that new laws such as this be enacted outside the attention of the masses, with all the pop culture news that has invaded the news outlets. This legislation is a contradiction of one of our most sacred constitutional rights - that of privacy. The fact that an unregulated arm of the government can circumvent an American's right to privacy based on SOMEONE ELSE's acts is ridiculous. One person's so-judged lack of privacy rights does not eliminate the other's - and with the very nature of a phone conversation being between two people, what protection against such an invasion do we have left?

    • Most of the Dem's that voted in favor of the legislation were from "red" states, but interestingly, San Francisco's own Diane Feinstein voted for it.

    • Ugh. I'm sure that Jefferson is spinning in his grave as we speak. What an abomination heaped on top of other abominations this administration has heaved onto the American people. It is time to re-educate the citizenry that WE THE PEOPLE grant the government its rights, not the other way around. Pod, anyone?

    • Although it is only suppose to last 6 months if not renewed, any surveillance orders that are in place before sunset will extend it to a full year. This should not even be an option.
