    • This piece is too simplistic IMHO. Just interviews with two families of different socio-economic status. It's an obvious attempt to portrait the archetypical class struggle: the rich against the poor which is a preferred theme of the goverment's propaganda and a tool for the hate mongering promoted by Chavez himself.

    • I've talked about Chavez with Venezuelans living in self-imposed exile. I have also talked about Chavez with Colombians currently living in Venezuela.
Yet, I can't really make up my mind in regards to this highly controversial character. He is without a doubt a populist figure who's built a cult of personality around himself.
Seeing how grateful the lower and impoverished classes are with his alleged socialist revolution. I can't help but be reminded of Cuba and the fiasco that revolution turned out to be.

    • How much of US coverage of Hugo Chavez's regime is colored by an imperialist perspective? I feel like it's really hard to make a judgement about his relationship with his own people and the world at large, because all the information I have about him is so mediated...
