Chasing the Carnage

ThomasGreen
When Josh and Charlie go to Damascus to mail some tapes home to the US, Nate stayed in Beirut to investigate the war and the air raids in the city. Driving straight into the area being bombed, Nate gets an inside look at the bombsites and talks to the few lucky people that are still in the city.

    • Can someone please explain to me what current is trying to accomplish with this piece? Blakkbox looks to me to be three yahoos chasing bombs and showing off their Arabic while wearing ties? Covering carnage requires analysis -- without any context I find this reporting irresponsible. Actually, it isn''t reporting at all -- it''s just a display of arrogance and alleged cojones (though I would question the size of said balls on three guys who seem so bent on proving their moxie and showing off their big surfboards.) Next time you cover war, please have a point. Otherwise, it''s called combat porn. -- Jessie

    • Hey ocsurfer, for the record, it was Ed Bradley who got me off. Now he was sexy. Smart, hip til the end and always had a good story to tell that wasn''t about his belly button.

    • Regardless of how this conflict began, I''d just like to say that it was a privilege to be able to tell the story of those Syrian workers who were in the building next to the one that got leveled. I hope it is clear from this presentation that those men had no hostility toward us and, in fact, were glad that we were there. Thank you to Current for putting this on the air. Thank you for watching. -josh(cameraman/prod.)
