This case has been brewing for a while with arrests made in late July, and yet, I knew nothing of it until this article. The Pentagon is investigating billions of dollars in contracts, and have found evidence of millions of dollars in bribes. As a result, charges have been filed against at least 29 civilians and soldiers. At least two officers have committed suicide, and there are more than 75 other criminal investigations ongoing.
As with Abu Ghraib, it seems that this war has a way of bringing out the worst in some of our soldiers, which doesn't make the situation any easier for all their fellow men and women in uniform.
