Protesters were back out in the streets today of Myanmar again today. But government troops were also out, taking swift and firm action: firing guns, chasing demonstrators out of the streets, as well as beating and arresting some. Troops have also taken control of several Buddhist monasteries in an effort to prevent the monks from joining the activities, and have cut off access to the internet and phones, which raises concerns that the violence may begin to rise as access to knowledge of the situation is more restricted.
