Al Gore on California's Primary Ballot?!?!

Yes... we are putting him there and you can help. Did you know Eisenhower was drafted into the presidency? After he was placed on NH's ballot (like we are doing with Gore in CA & several other states), he changed his mind and decided to run. We are doing the same thing with Al because the future of our country and the planet we live on hang in the balance. California Democrats, please download (link in the upper left hand corner), sign, & collect signatures to help (further directions below). We CAN do this! Al has very clearly left the door open to the possibility of running in the future (http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/10/10/184837/05), so we need to give him a very convincing reason to go through that open door.

    • QUestion Goracle fan... I was just gearing up to start collecting in LA, but I have heard we already have enough in the major counties... that the shortfall is in the rural, Republican counties. Is this true? Do we have enough in LA and other major counties / districts already?

I heard they wanted to hire signatuire gatherers for the rural counties, but are there any efforts to caravan or bus folks frm LA or SF into the rural neighbporing areas on a Saturday or Sunday and get the sigs we need. We can have 500 in 52 districts but if we miss any one district the effort fails.

I would think organizers would be trying to organize trips into the rural areas because raising money will be hard with 3-4 weeks left and folks not wanting to give cash if Al has not declared.

      THoughts?

    • laura5686 - I started looking today, but the Georgia Democratic Party website is lacking any information on the drafting process.

Would probably have to call the office:

      Democratic Party of Georgia
      1100 Spring Street Suite 408
      Suite 408
      Atlanta, GA 30309

      404-870-8201
      fax 404-873-4396
      mmatheny@democraticpartyofgeorgia.org

If you get some info, please share it here and I'll try to do the same!

    • I have not been able to find a nomination petition for Georgia. I am very interested in getting Gore on the ballot here. Can any one tell me where to go or how to get this started?

    • Best of luck! Make it happen!!

Looking into a similar effort in Georgia, but you Californians clearly have a better shot.

    • Oh yes, we are going to get him on the ballot in CA! You better believe it! There is truly no better candidate out there. We know what a great President Al Gore will be -- the greatest this country will ever see!!! You go!

    • 1) Do not write anything within the three boxes at the top of the form, doing so may invalidate the form. Each and every signature will be verified by county registrar of voters.
      2) The candidate’s name, Albert Gore Jr., should be filled on the “Nomination Papers” form prior to making copies.
      3) The Nomination Paper form is two-sided. Please make extra copies of the Nomination Papers two-sided with the affidavit on the back side. Copies should look exactly like the original.
      4) Make sure the signers write legibly and enter the complete address where they are registered (if they have recently moved, use the registered address NOT the new one). If writing is illegible, the signature will likely be disqualified. Suggest the signer prints everything except his/her signature.
      5) Nomination Paper signers must be registered Democrats residing in California.
      6) Use black or dark blue ink only.
      7) Anyone eighteen (18) years of age may circulate the Nomination Papers.
      8) Only one person may circulate each Nomination Paper form.
      9) The person circulating the Nomination Papers must sign the affidavit on the reverse side and indicate the start date and end date signatures were collected for each form.
      10) It is not necessary to completely fill every line of the form with signatures.
      11) You may NOT commingle signatures of voters of different counties on the same form. Use a SEPARATE form for EACH county.
      12) When signing the affidavit, TELL THE TRUTH. If you collected signatures of Orange County Democrats in San Diego County, write “San Diego” in your affidavit on the bottom of the back page.
      13) Make sure forms are signed and filled out correctly, then return them to California Draft Gore at P.O. BOX 178799
SAN DIEGO, CA 92177.(if you have further questions, go to www.california4gore.org)
