    • The fact of the matter is that this country (USA) has become a corrupt so called ?democracy? which is far more dangerous than a dictatorship.

There is absolutely no commitment to the constituents that elect our politician its all a big business here in US like everything else. You see here in US thee are plenty of hardcore capitalist that are want a system as close to a les-afire economic management as they can get it. Basically they want a situation where they can make money and keep as much of it as possible. They are powerful and couldn?t care less about the dispossessed. With enormous wealth and huge influence they have panelized the workings of this democracy because only when no one can make a decision (Gridlock) and all decisions are seen as bad once can they forcefully pursue their gale of even higher profitability, in short American government is being manipulated in ways that even our enemy could not dream of.

The above is just the beginning of America?s wows, the other problem is just a sheer number of truly stupid and ignorant individuals that even though are lettered and may even have a high degree are so analytical inapt that basically means any one willing to spent money can definitely get a large number of votes. Another word they can do what they want.

When you combine the said problems and conceder the way in which various industries are integrated in to the American economy one thing is clear you are endangering national interest in favor of higher profit hence you have ?military industrial complex? that is currently in charge of American foreign policy.

Now what does this mean? again this is not very difficult it means both the congress as well as the presidency in this country prefer war to peace. In short there is more money in war than there is in peace. So?

Having said that I now would like to talk about something that is just as important for the Americans.
After 9-11 this country should have studded carefully all the dynamics involved in the conflict with the middle east
If they had done a through investigation they would have realized that the fundamental problem of US in that part of the work are twofold first US has a predatory approach to the countries of middle east mainly for oil which in and by itself is a good enough reason for the Arabs and the Persians to get mad about American attitudes and maneuverings in that part of the world.

The other problem America has is simply misdiagnosing the core problem; here various commentators and strategists place the blame for 9-11 on some Moslems, ?Islam o? fascist?, extremist and so on. If however you either had the guts or the historic knowledge you would recognize that the core problem is Islam itself. Very simply Islam is most inhumane set of principal anyone is ever likely to encounter. But of course America neither has the guts nor the all important economic interest to get in to that fight. Hence you are going to just steer this towards issues such as stability and so on which in short means only one thing keep thing as much as possible the way they ware/are. What does this mean for USA, simple you will be selling more armament propping up more of the same disgraceful regimes in that part of the world like you good friends the Saudis and the golf sheikh?s how in turn will propagate Islam and keep their subject oppressed and out of politics and power. How will it end? Simple again this region will from time to time becomes extremely hot and unstable eventually it will become impossible to handle and therefore more killing more sales of armament more killing and so on and so forth.

Is anyone interested in an alternative?

    • Our country is in greater danger from George W Bush and other Republican neocon wingnuts than if our country was attacked by a foreign country. The Iranians helped us after 9/11 to defeat the Taliban in Afghanistan. Then George W Bush declared Iran to be the axis of evil which angered Iran and caused the Iranian moderates to be ousted and religious hardliners to be elected. Republicans have made such a mess of things that it will be difficult for Hillary to get us back on the right track. See http://www.Democracy-Now.us

    • I just signed onto this site after receiving one of AG's emails about it. There is no more important issue right now than stopping GS and DC from moving into Iran. There must be a huge US public demonstration against this or these guys are going to get us into an even deeper mess than we are now. This is really serious, folks. There's money in the DoD budget for special deep penetration bombs that have one clear target == attack Iranian suspected nuclear sites. The Iranians have said that they have over 200K weapons they can release immedately if they are attacked and toward which targets? You got it : American forces in Iraq.

Please call you senators and reps immediately and tell them they must stop this. Then organize locally with street demonstrations. The American public is asleep and must be awakened.

I am a retired American diplomat and I remember being in University when Pres Kennedy announced the embargo against Cuba because of the Soviet missiles. I am as afraid now as I was then. We are at just such a point now on Iran. Please get involved and be a part of stopping this idiocy..combination

    • Amazing...for full disclosure, I haven't seen the piece, just read the synopsis, but It adds a new dimension to the failure we had before the war in ignoring the very pro-western youth movement in Iranian Academia. The reformist movement could have been bolstered by a joint Iraqi stability program. But, alas, we decided that bombs could solve every problem...As an aside, THIS is why public television and radio needs guaranteed funding. As long as the corporations who finance regular media benefit from military actions, we will never get the real skinny, except from outlets who doesn't have to get down on their knees for funding. Unfortunately, truth is a threat, so funding for PBS, NPR and CPB have been under attack since at least 2005.
