The truth is that the 'attacks' in Turkey are just a pretext to clamp down on any future declaration of Kurdish sovereignty in Northern Iraq, which may inspire Turkey's own Kurds to break away and join a united Kurdistan.

Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell said the US had given Turkey "intelligence with regards to this situation for a long time"
"We are assisting the Turks in their efforts to combat the PKK by supplying them with intelligence, lots of intelligence" .. as opposed the United States first response on turkey's approach.
