None of us want to be there, we all want to get home as quickly as possible, but we are there.

    • he's trying to hit a patriotic nerve, kind of like Rambo but cheesier and Baptist. it's this kind of blind nationalist jargon and good vs evil, champions of freedom crap that compromise our national security.

    • I heard three things: leave with honor, dignity, and with Iraq in a stable condition. But I didn't hear any specifics about how we're going to do any of those things.

    • I heard a lot of fuzzy words like "embolden the enemy" that made me think Governor Huckabee hasn't put too much serious thought forward about this.

    • scm, why should we have gone? Please, tell me. Give me any reason why a giant must move. Tell me why we move for Iraq, and we don't move for Sudan? It didn't go well, because the goals they have in mind are different than the goals that you and I have in mind. Bush already signed on for permanent military bases in Iraq. What does that tell you? What do you see when you connect the dots? The united states has been hijacked, and is now a runaway train. We've got serious problems, and it's not just bush & co. that I'm talking about here. No matter what is going on in the middle east, we aren't going to be able to help anyone if we fall into economic despair. We aren't going to be able to do anything if we don't have the respect or support of the global community. My point? The only way we can walk away from Iraq with honor, is to walk away with humility... Furthermore, we must issue an apology, from the people of the United States of America to the world, acknowledging the mistakes of our leadership, and taking responsibility for allowing it to happen. The best and only way to truly regain some honor, and national prestige, is to impeach cheney, bush, and work to replace bush appointees, as well as other politicians who don't hold up under scrutiny. They'd hang us out to dry in a heartbeat, and it's time we returned the favor. Honor is in doing the right thing, not in securing territory, or killing Bin Ladin. We need to take responsibility for ourselves before we can presume to tell other nations how to govern themselves. ------------- Huckabee is too much like bush. smile in your face....

    • It's common knowledge that this war hasn't gone as well as planned. However, that does not mean we shouldn't have gone in the first place. Right now, given the situation that we're in, we have to do what is best for our country, and for the middle east. Just giving up and leaving because things didn't go perfectly as planned would lead to far more problems than we already have.

    • There is no HONOR in killing people in a war that is just lagging on and on and on...

      I don't understand it...

Why are our troops still there?
Why? Can anyone explain this to me?

    • First, I like to watch your videos even if I disagree.

      But well, yes nice words.
      Honor and victory.

But what exactly does victory mean here?
Exactly what conditions have to be there for you to
      say hey we won?

And whose honor are you talking about?
I for one wouldn't lose my honor if US troops got out of Iraq right now. (Not that I think that would make much sense.)
I think the correct word here is pride not honor.
Many Americans are just too proud to lose. And I consider those people weak. If you can't deal with defeat with dignity you are weak. If leaving now demoralized a soldier I'd say, well, your fault. You are a sissy if you can be demoralized so easily.

Pride, especially nationalist pride, has been one of the most destructive force in human history.
You should be much more pragmatic and much less emotional over this issue.

    • First off, I want to say that it was brave to make this statement. I don't agree with Mike Huckabee but I do give him credit for attempting to justify his position.

On the other hand, I find the argument avoids the point. Which, is that we shouldn't be there at all. Yes, we are there but we compound that mistake every day by remaining there. If you make a mistake in anything else, do you continue to make the mistake over and over? ... or do you go about rectifying it. I say we rectify the mistake and remove our troops. Let the Iraqis figure out how to rebuild and stabilize their own government. Then it will TRULY be their govenment. It's not something we can give them and thinking so is fallacious reasoning.

Afterwards, we should begin impeachment proceedings against the Bush Administration. Their mistake has cost the lives of hundreds of thousands of people and more importantly to Americans, the lives of thousands of American Soldiers.

    • Does it seem like they WANT us to "stabilize" them? Secondly, why do you think the terrorists will be relieved? Why wouldn't they will be invigorated by the injustice of our occupation. Do you seriously think that the goal is to intimidate the rest of the world into submission? NO! Our occupation of Iraq has yielded very little. Sure, temporary regime change and "low" terrorism rates, but that will not last. It's time to get out. We have no honor or dignity left, and there is no possible way to win this war. It's like saying we "won" WWII. This genocide cannot be reconciled. The only option is to withdraw and try to redeem our world image.
