In fresno Ca. there use to be these old hotels that would hold all the old Vets that were homeless.
Almost all of them were unfit for living in but they stayed there cause there was no where else to go. - 4 years ago

When I lived in Seattle in 2004 there was a small city of people who lost their homes during the economic depression. A church set up their parking lot to provide camping area to the newly homeless. If only that kind of generosity was more common, not just for the newly homeless, but for any person who doesn't have a place to go at night.
