Ex-Pakistani cricket captain is arrested during protests at a University. Mr Khan had gone to address the students, who were protesting the current regime in Pakistan. A great article from the BBC.

    • Pervez Musharraf said that he will leave his post as a general with the Army by the end of November, and will continue to serve as the President of Pakistan, but will do so as a civilian.

Musharraf says the country risks sliding into chaos if he were to give in to the demands of the opposition that he resign. He has also indicated that the emergency rule the country is under will continue through elections in January.

President Bush has sent an envoy to try and convince Musharraf to end the emergency rule, while Benazir Bhutto is under house arrest for at least another day. Musharraf has blamed Bhutto for much of the political unrest.
